--A) WALLBOX. Summary Wallbox, based in Spain, brings new technology and a European approach to electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The company has strong support from Iberdrola, Spain’s multinational utility. From October 4th to the 26ththe stock price hovered in the $10 to $11 range. Then, Uber (UBER) announced that it would begin a pilot project with Wallbox to make discounted home chargers available to Uber drivers in the San Francisco bay area. The stock rocketed to $27.50 a share and has since settled down in the $15 to $16 range. OK THat's annoying granted. Should not of had that big move bases on a few Uber drivers.... stupid. Source: Wallbox investor presentation, June 2021 Let's Get Bi! Here, the company comes to the fore with Quasar, which the company claims is the first bi-directional home EV charger. Customers can charge their EVs with Quasar but they can also use their vehicles to feed electricity into their homes as needed. This is of immense value to allow EVs to act as battery storage for homes. Van that's the angle I find very cool... Your car can power your fridge in a blackout! And air conditioning.... etc.... SUCH A HUGE MARKET AND TAM. The thing about all this EV stuff Charging stations and cars is the sector moves like semi conductors did in the 90's in unison. They all go up they all go down. Index buying<---- So being a SPAC here may not be the penalty it is often on other names. They have an update coming up very shortly... This week I think.
Why Real Real Is Going To have A Good Christmas- and why ThreadUp is a buy as well..... (Bloomberg) -- As brand-name retailers nationwide struggle to fill shelves, a crop of online platforms that trade in secondhand wares are poised to profit handsomely from the global supply chain crunch. The products for sale on sites such as The RealReal Inc., a members-only consignment marketplace for luxury goods, or Poshmark Inc., a mobile app for second-hand apparel, are already manufactured and sitting in people’s closets. This allows them to largely avoid backed-up ports and freight transport, and more importantly, they’re currently available. “Many retailers are struggling with supply chain disruptions, presenting consumers with thin inventory and higher prices,” said Anthony Marino, president of online high-end thrift store ThredUp Inc. The Bi thing is called V2H.... vehicle to home. Seimens and Bosch make one, so again, going up against Seimens or Bosch is like going up against Phillips. I did a search, there's several additional companies making them. But from an engineering standpoint Stoney, it's not that big of a deal to incorporate that feature in one of these boxes. The reason they aren't apparently is there's quite a debate over what it will do to the battery life of the car's batteries, and apparently most manufactures don't like the idea. _____________________ How about EV manufacturers’ battery warranty? Consequent to the battery life degradation, car manufacturer’s warranty for battery is one of the main factors that has been blocking the V2H (or any V2G bidirectional) solutions. Industry-wide EV manufacturer’s warranty is around 160,000 km driving with a minimum remaining capacity of 70% for eight years (Reference warranty statements of Nissan, Renault, BMW, & Tesla). However, Nissan is the only EV OEM who has declared that V2H / V2G use will not void the warranty of its car battery. As the EV makers have more insights in to the capabilities and safe-operating range of their batteries, they can design a better battery management systems for their EV, that guarantees warranty period including V2H operations. Honda-Europe and BMW are reportedly testing V2H charger capabilities, but not sure when/whether they will release a commercial solution like Nissan Leaf. ____________________________ It's a great thing for sure, but it's not a huge proprietary tech. A couple relays inside the box and a more involved installation, as the home would need to be isolated from the grid in an outage until new standards are agreed upon.
I say trust my intuition on this one Stoney. I know what you're saying about index buying, but these devices are gonna become commoditized, it'll be a race to the bottom on price. They all do the same thing, so what sets one apart from the other? Asthetics. They all look good. I mean they can add stupid features, like the one above has facial recognition. Lol. Gimmee a break. Is that so someone can't break in my house, open the garage, and charge their car overnight? I mean... whatever. More stuff to break down the road imo. Keep it simple. A charger's a charger. Microprocessor controlled charging solutions have been used in industry for 25 years. At least. But whatever. Of course if it goes to $25 now I'll friggin' hear about it forever.
