  2. Ball corp has been trapped in trend lines for along time.

Aluminum is a imput cost for them so that cannot be good... unless they have some prices guaranteed and fixed. I always think of the glass jars.

Ball upgraded at BMO as beverage can demand shows no sign of slowing
Mar. 03, 2022 2:57 PM ETBall Corporation (BLL)

Ball Corp. (BLL +1.9%) bounces higher as BMO Capital upgrades shares to Outperform from Market Perform with a $105 price target, citing volume growth in beverage cans, margin improvement and double-digit growth in the company's aerospace segment.

Beverage can demand is showing no signs of slowing, BMO's Mark Wilde says, noting that "food and beverage companies have put out aggressive sustainability targets, and are looking to aluminum cans to achieve them."

Russia comprises a relatively small part of Ball's global production, according to Wilde, with three plants in the country and capacity at 3.5B units, slightly below 10% of the 38B units the company shipped in the EMEA region in 2021.

Wilde says the stock is not inexpensive, but "we believe there is more room to run, particularly as capacity grows and canmakers continue to enjoy improved pricing [and] terms on new contracts."

Ball recently beat estimates for Q4 earnings and revenues, and reported an aerospace backlog of $2.5B.

  3. Ball Corp. upgraded to Buy from Neutral at BofA 03/07 BLL BofA analyst George Staphos upgraded Ball Corp. to Buy from Neutral with a price target of $108, up from $103. Increased momentum in North and Central America, along with the next stages of the can growth story, are offsetting weakness in South America and the risks in Europe related to Russia, the analyst tells investors in a research note. Staphos adds that EBIT of over $830M is possible while further citing Ball's Aerospace segment potential and its ability to buy back stock when needed.

  4. $300 bln market and three top players<----

US Foods, Sysco and Performance Food Group represent about 35% of the market with the next biggest 7 only making up about 6% of the market. As discussed on the previous page, many smaller distributors did not survive the pandemic giving opportunity to the "big 3". Sysco is the industry leader with 16% market share followed by US Foods at 9% and Performance Food Group (PFG) at 8%.

  5. US Food is really interesting there could be a business school class on this very easily.

Selling & distribution costs (including the sales force) are around 50% and are a huge (operational) expense. This is the cost of the delivery driver moving the product from Point A to Point B and not just the delivery (including fuel which is highly variable) but it also may include the unloading at the customers' facility.//

They pay for gas they pay for drivers they pay for warehouses.... <--- You can see the negs...

But they have a chance to grab market share eating out is soaring and independent food places are target #1. So it becomes a margin story quite quickly.//

Flash forward a decade and we have electric trucks and robots<--- When those saved costs are factored in---> It's to the moon with the stock. Until then I expect a steady stream of consolidation... I's really a land grab now and USFD is in a good place-

  6. MAILBAG-!

In answer to no less than four of you!!!! YES- I'm nervous.

63 mil shares Friday // a name that is never ever mentioned is then causally thrown out by a CNBC announcer Friday with other Huge and actully operating Nat gas plays like LNG and EQT<----

This unfortunately is not good. If you get into an unknown and secrete energy play you want them to pay for their own publicity and drop a bunch of Press Releases and generally do the shady stuff all of these guys do-- But to have a pump on CNBC Thurs, followed by them using the name the next day as if it's one of the big ones... I worry.
I have a $6.49 target... But my hands are weak.

    Tellurian Inc. (TELL)

  7. Van one thing I want to talk about...I'm not as good at cut and pasting within this site... my computer freezes .. But I went through my TRMLF news.

1- I held you off buying at a high price. I said wait I'll get you a better price.

2- I came back and did a chart read and gave you $38.50 actually as an entry point //and then bought at $38.25 thinking you bought with me. But you never said good job. or thanks for all the work.

Believe me if you ever give me a stock that works I will shout it to the moon.
I'm just cursed that way whenever I listen to other people the ideas don't work out.-

What's your stock for next week. Any ideas. You don't have to have one every week I was just wondering.

    I like USFD.

  8. -- If you want to beat me up on any names let me help you. They are not in this thread // this thread is very clean. But I bought Covid testing companies OSUR & that little one in the airports XSPA..and I have VIR & I have another Bio so obscure I'm forgetting the name right here-- I'm sure it went to zero. I still have ZYME that's an enormous loss....

So in the crux of the pandemic maybe I panicked I don't know.. But when things got a bit better I was still worried and held these names as a counter balance if something nasty broke out...

Also I think with Bio's I lead with my heart too much...

.. Which of course brings is to IOVANCE-!

    >>>This weekend Elon Tweeted something about "maybe he'll just start his own social media company". He doesn't approve of Twitter's censorship policies.

    >>>Last month Peter Theil said he was going to dedicate his time to "helping Trump".

Now Pete and Elon go way back... to the Paypal days.

    Let's put 2 and 2 together here.

    >>>>>What if Elon and Theil have their sights set on building out DWAC?

Not saying it's gonna happen, but if it does the world heard it here first.
