'Value destruction' if oil companies boost output now, Occidental CEO says

Oil companies are trying to find ways to increase production but are struggling to balance increases without undercutting shareholder returns, Occidental Petroleum (NYSE:OXY) CEO Vicki Hollub said Wednesday, according to Reuters.

"It's almost value destruction if you try to accelerate anything now," Hollub reportedly said during the company's earnings conference call. "Some of the longer-term projects just can't get started because of the cost involved."

  3. SEC draft emission rules could provide a boon for utilities, NextEra exec says
May 11, 2022 5:45 PM ETNextEra Energy, Inc. (NEE),

The SEC's new draft emission reporting rules are pushing companies to buy renewable energy, which presents a good business opportunity for utilities, NextEra Energy Resources (NYSE:NEE) CEO Rebecca Kujawa said Tuesday at an Aspen Institute event in Miami Beach, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Companies buying renewable energy often do so more for the economic benefits than to address climate change, Kujawa said; for example, renewable power purchase agreements can lock in energy prices for companies, protecting them from spikes in fossil fuel prices.

Also speaking at the event, Xcel Energy (NASDAQ:XEL) Chief Customer Office Brett Carter said his company's partnership with NextEra (NEE) has helped it deploy wind and solar faster and prompted other utilities to get onboard with renewable energy, WSJ reports.

  6. These be hard times. I know. Even so it's shocking to hear people have cut back their high end coffee intake. I like Cramer a bit more now. He actually liked BROS too. What do I know I've never tried one. But I did do the Van test I had people go look for oil on the ground marks. And they found a bunch. Turns out it was lack of employees that kept cars waiting not overflowing demand. Cramer did a mea culpa on some names a couple of which we know - UPST & SKLZ, I came away respecting him finally.

These are hard times. Every investment seems to have to hurdle three moats did they beat , did the guide higher was the market up that day... It's impossible! //

The economy is going to slow of people can't afford coffee. No coffee /no new tractor.

Why we have to raise rates so much is in question.

I've already taken three 1/4 raises off my dot plot on my desk. (resin spots)

  8. BROS at $21.50, I remember when SBUX was $8. How low will it go without earnings now? AMC and GME gained by losing money, BROS feels right! I said that about my ex wives too, feelings mean nothing?

“The market likely underestimates the permanency of recent raw material price increases and is not factoring in the impact of the recent aggressive US fuel economy regulations,” the bank’s senior equity analyst Colin Langan wrote in a note to clients”
