  1. FedEx falls after higher transportation, labor costs contribute to profit miss... Mrs stoney is fine holding. She says if you sell every time you make a liittle bit you will never make a lot. Also it makes me look too jumpy to the HF as I'm buying these longer range ideas now... Looks down $4 might even turn around tomorrow. Lets hope.

  2. Good Morning everyone- This daylight savings mess has me really upset. The change is very important to my inner workings. I keep a radio by me bed that remains unchanged when we turn the clocks back and comes back into form when we spring forward. The whole idea of " springing " can only be done when you are emerging from something- a darkness. I am afraid this absurd change in how we keep our iner clocks ticking may have huge medical ramifications.

Apparently they tried this in the 1970's.-

-While 79 percent of Americans approved of the change in December 1973, approval had dropped to 42 percent three months later, the New York Times reported. Seven days after President Nixon resigned, US Senator Bob Dole of Kansas introduced an amendment in August that would end the DST experiment.

Than god for Bob Dole. I will continue to live my life according to a time change so expect me an hour late for half of the year.

  4. Van I am heading up to Ct early because I have heard some deer are already on the property eating tulip sprouts $$$$$$$$$$ Those damn monsters. I have to fish line everything... I surround my house with fishing wire... And I erect shiny foil on stakes--

My son will not be coming... deciding instead to stay at his girlfriend's place uptown because her parents are away... Wow. I'm insulted of course-- wouldn't you rather watch basketball with me? But also shocked at how he has grown this Senior year of HS. In some ways I can't believe I'm allowing this and in other ways-- he's turned 18.

Anyway... Van please take us through the Day and if you would could you take a look at Shoe Carnival. SCVL -- When I get up to Ct I'll check in and maybe we buy! ~stoney

    Non-GAAP estimates were in line.
Your figures are before the accountants do whatever it is they do with the TNT Express integration. It's confusing, but the estimates are based on the non-GAAP figures below:

    Earnings per diluted share of $20.50 to $21.50 before (i) the year-end MTM retirement plans accounting adjustment, and excluding (ii) estimated TNT Express integration expenses, (iii) estimated costs associated with business realignment activities, and (iv) the second quarter fiscal 2022 MTM retirement plans accounting adjustments, unchanged from the prior forecast;

Shoe Carnival.... I know you like that flashy Nike display lol, but we already know Nike is going direct to consumer soooo.

    I like Designer Brands better.

Analysts all raised their estimates recently and screwed them over so they missed yesterday.
It was a great report though.
    It dropped to $12.

I think DBI will perform better.
These are solid results imo, plus they're using pre-covid comps. I have not seen one retail operation top these. Maybe Lowes did. This company is obviously well run with a turnaround like that.

    Outlook for 2022
The Company has announced the following guidance for the full year 2022:

Comparable sales growth in the high-single digits
Diluted EPS in the range of $1.75 to $1.85

    >>>> Still pricey for B&M retail at a PE of about 7.5, but you can bet they lowballed this one. They'll smoke it next Q

I dunno. Six of one, half dozen of the other.
    A PE of 7.5 puts SCVL at $30. It's $34 as I type.
    So who knows.
    >>>>I think I like DBI better here at $13

    $320 Monday>>>> $376 earlier today lol.

This thing is crazy. What's even crazier, has there ever been a Buffet stock that's this volatile?
Know who else bought a ton of calls on this thing?
What's that one big hedge fund in Chicago?
The one that has like 20 clients and manages a quarter of a billion trillion dollars?
    I forget. :sneaky:

  8. SAT RAIN (naturally) -

Supposedly Russia used a supersonic weapon for the first time. They go very fast. They did that to show us that anti missal units we are moving in country may not be good enough. Still all of these Nato countries should be outfitted with the latest Patriot-like set up.

Funny you brought up DBI I was looking into them as well. I agree with you there but I do think A) Shoe Carnival's store look is cleaner. B) It looks like they are part of a mall community DKS and one more Big5 that are still getting alot of Nike stuff.- Look to be a preferred vendor of some sort.

We need to buy one of these next week.>

  9. Well our doormen in our building took their masks off for the first time Thursday. And I started the whole revolution with my letter... and now of course we have a new variant.

Even though I have taken enormous losses I kept a few vaccine plays as counter intuitive investments in case such a thing happened. It was bound to. One thing that has me REALLY worried and upset is something the Moderna CEO said... don't quote me but this is close- -- but Moderna (which I have inside me) they go to the FDA and ask for a FOURTh shot.. but they don't ask for a fourth shot for old people with cancer... they said straight up 4th shot for everyone and then said they were surprised how quickly the first Booster wore off...

Let that sink in; so first they lied to us to get you boosted saying how great it was go be immedately re- boosted to full 90% PROTECTION... and then they slide in on their bellies and beg for a fourth shot because the 3rd one they gave everybody has peetered out already...

That's why I DID NOT GET A A BOOSTER YET.... and what we are going to find out perhaps is the first shot you get is the best shot you will ever get and maybe we have to live our lives with 60% protection and the rest you just have to make yourself by getting sick now and then.

We weaken ourselves as much as we boost ourselves.... This is a huge problem that the war in Ukraine is covering up right now....

  10. Back To Space-

Astra Space (ASTR +14.1%) rockets higher after CEO Chris Kemp said in a CNBC interview that the company is seeing higher demand for launches.

Kemp said Astra is manufacturing about one rocket per month, and the company is "seeing a big increase in demand for launches," particularly from customers that had planned to place satellites into orbit via Russia's Soyuz platform.

In a market that already was supply constrained, the CEO said Astra had more than 50 launches under contract, and "we are working very hard to make more rockets and make more launches happen... and now there's even more demand."

Astra fell Thursday after postponing its Q4 earnings report by two weeks to March 31, saying its filing status changed from non-accelerated filer to large accelerated filer; the company expects Q4 results will meet or exceed its guidance.<------

We need a Space Section in the portfolio.....
