  1. Has anyone else noticed Dwayne The Rock head is shrinking?

It's alarming. I don't know if he stopped taking a super steroid that engorged his head prior but whatever he's doing now- the body remains the same and the head shrinks.

    • HeidelbergCement is a "BUY" with a massive upside.

It's easy to understand why the market doesn't especially like HeidelbergCement (OTCPK:HDELY) at this particular time. What isn't as easy to understand, at least not for me, is how anyone could believe that this company should trade at close to 5-6X P/E when it's active in one of the most significant infrastructure segments available.

    Revisiting HeidelbergCement's upside
As I mentioned in some of my base articles, Heidelberg Cement is one of the largest building materials companies on earth - period. After completing the M&A of Italcementi, it became the largest aggregate producer for construction aggregates at the time and is now one of the world's largest producers of building materials.

While the company's asset base isn't as shiny as some of its competitors, because this M&A came with a lot of trouble-laden assets, the company still has a significant upside. In 2020, HDELY was ranked as the 678th largest company - in any sector - in the world.

It works in 60 countries with 67,000 employees working at over 3,000 production sites, operating over 135 plants with an annual capacity of over 175 million tonnes. Additionally, the company has over 1,500 ready-mix sites and over 600 quarries where aggregate is sourced.

In a way, it's not all that odd that the company has been punished since Ukraine was invaded, because the company does operate 3 cement factories in Russia.

  4. Former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers doubts that’s how it will play out.

“My instinct is that you’d not see rates cut as soon as people think,” the Harvard University professor and paid Bloomberg Television contributor said.

“The Fed has to be careful. If you look at the history of the 60’s and 70’s, there were moments when monetary policy eased a bit and things didn’t tend to work out so well,” he added, referring to episodes where the Fed loosened credit before stamping out inflation.

Instead of cutting rates, the Fed will likely raise them to 5% or higher next year to try to bring price pressures to heel, Dreyfus and Mellon chief economist Vincent Reinhart said. That will help precipitate a contraction that increases unemployment to about 6%, from 3.6% now, but leaves inflation above 3%, the central bank veteran said.

  5. What Bloomberg Economics Says

“The chance of a downturn in the next 12 months has risen to 38%, significantly higher than zero when we ran the model a month ago. The model sees a 100% probability of recession in the next 24 months.”

    Aaron Rogers
We might as well start arguably with the most famous athlete on this list. The four-time MVP quarterback of the Green Bay Packers tweeted out in 2021that he was converting a portion of his salary in Bitcoin. He didn’t reveal exactly how much, but he recently signed a new four-year, $134 million contract. We’re guessing there’s a sizable budget for “crypto investments.”

    :D
    Landon Cassill
Landon Cassill has been a regular on the NASCAR scene since 2007. However, he broke new ground when he announced a new 19-race sponsorship deal with Voyager, who would be paying his entire salary in Bitcoin and Litecoin. Cassill isn’t just someone hopping on the crypto bandwagon either. He tweeted out that he actually used to mine Bitcoin in his basement.

“I can trade it [cryptocurrency] right away before the market changes or hold on to it while the market goes up or down, take out a little, pay my bills with it and keep the rest,” said Cassill.

... and I know drive for free.

  8. I like the concept- you capture the fading fad of hard seltzers with the SAM short. But Beer is really important in recessions- and the consumer is willing to pay up for a better tasting product
and you get that with STZ!

    I might try this myself.-

Hard seltzer is here to stay, experts say, but the craze that swept the nation is officially over. Hard seltzers like White Claw became hugely popular in 2019, leading major brands to follow suit. But now, the category has become oversaturated and only a handful of brands rule the market.Oct 30, 2021
