Putin Strikes Canada- Outage in Canada leaves millions without internet; ATMs, 911 lines hit A network outage at one of Canada’s telecom giants has hobbled mobile and internet services around the country for hours since Friday, affecting homes, businesses, ATMs and 911 emergency lines. Canadians flocked to coffee shops for WiFi. Banks reported problems with payment systems, and retailers put up “cash only” signs. Netblocks, a monitoring group, said the outage at Rogers Communications started Friday morning and knocked out a quarter of the country’s network connectivity. It said early Saturday that internet service was “being gradually restored.” Canada’s tax collection agency lost telephone service. The country’s largest airline, Air Canada, reported technical problems at call centers. Even the Canadian telecom regulator said its phone lines were affected. In the city of Winnipeg, police asked Rogers users who need to call 911 to try to find landlines or phones on another network in case of emergency. Rogers Communications said late Friday that it had “made meaningful progress” toward restoring service but that it could not say when the networks would fully recover. “Many of our wireless customers are starting to see services return,” the company’s president, Tony Staffieri ,saidi n the statement. “I want to sincerely apologize for this service interruption and the impact it is having on people from coast to coast to coast.” It was the second disruption at the provider in a little over a year. Critics pointed to the outages Friday as evidence that there should be more competition in Canada’s telecom industry. Recent Breakout(Finviz) The recent upside push in the stock has actually occurred in the face of some negative news “During the second quarter, Ford sold a mere 120,000 vehicles in Greater China marking a ~22% year-over-year decline led by rising COVID cases and ongoing global supply chain problems. The sales indicated the worst since Q1 of 2020 (89K units) when government COVID restrictions halted the production in the country.”

Van in May Ford sold a bunch of Rivian was Rivian higer then I wonder?- they currently have just under 10% Ford Sells 7 Million More Rivian Shares, Reduces Stake to 9.7 Percent Ford has offloaded more shares of EV startup Rivian, but still holds about 86.9 million shares, according to the Wall Street Journal.
