  1. Apple event showed 'innovation engine at full throttle,' says Morgan Stanley 06:58 AAPL Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty said Apple's WWDC keynote "played out largely as we expected," bringing together the best of Apple's software and hardware innovation and displaying the company's "innovation engine at full throttle." What incrementally surprised her from the event were that Apple introduced a new M2 SoC for the Mac and that Apple upgraded the 13 inch MacBook Pro in addition to the new MacBook Air, Huberty tells investors. The WWDC keynote brought out what she believes is "the most compelling characteristic of the company," namely Apple's focus on in-house hardware and software innovation combined with an increasing set of features, added the analyst, who keeps an Overweight rating and $195 price target on Apple shares. 2. Apple BNPL entry likely doesn't change landscape for Affirm, says Morgan Stanley 06:53 AFRM, AAPL After Apple (AAPL) yesterday officially announced its "Apple Pay Later" offering at the 2022 Worldwide Developers Conference keynote, Morgan Stanley analyst James Faucette noted that Apple previously had been reported to be working on a "buy now, pay later," or BNPL, offering as of July 2021. While the Apple announcement had been previously speculated, it does bring incremental competition to the industry, said Faucette. However, he continues to like Affirm's (AFRM) competitive positioning as Affirm offers a broader set of offerings and in his view the long-term trajectory of BNPL providers remains unchanged, Faucette tells investors. He maintains an Overweight rating and $80 price target on Affirm shares.

PayPal sales could rise 20% if Apple enables Venmo tap, says Mizuho 06:42 PYPL, AAPL, SQ Mizuho analyst Dan Dolev's proprietary survey of PayPal's (PYPL) Venmo and Apple Pay (AAPL) users shows "strong appetite" to tap-to-pay with Venmo if Apple opened up its near field communication to Venmo. He estimates that tap-to-pay with Venmo could present 10% total payment volume and 15%-20% sales upside given Venmo's high in-store take rates and its stored balance-driven funding mix. The odds of Apple gradually opening up its NFC to Venmo are "potentially on the rise," Dolev tells investors in a research note. As evidence, Apple announced a tap-to-pay partnership with Square (SQ) just last week, he points out. Dolev keeps a Buy rating on PayPal with a $120 price target.

Apple's new features improve 'usability' but AR/VR omission surprising, says UBS 06:22 AAPL UBS analyst David Vogt keeps his Buy rating and $185 price target on Apple after its Worldwide Developers Conference keynote event. The analyst states that the company's unveiled features improve 'usability' and should support the stickiness of the ecosystem, but while an AR/VR hardware product was not expected, the market anticipated Apple to introduce a new software development environment ahead of a hardware launch later this year or in early 2023, adding that this omission was "more notable".

    Great co.

Tractor Supply sees Q2 EPS $3.48 or greater, net sales growth 8% vs. last year 16:18 TSCO Tractor Supply Company provided an outlook for Q2 in advance of presenting at Baird's Global Consumer, Technology and Services Conference Tuesday morning and at its Annual Sales Meeting in early July 2022. While there is still a significant portion of Q2 ahead, Tractor Supply currently forecasts net sales growth of 8% and comparable store sales growth of 5% as compared to Q2 of FY21. Diluted EPS for Q2 of FY22 is forecasted to be $3.48 or greater. "Tractor Supply is on track to deliver record results in the second quarter on both sales and earnings. As we moved through April and the weather has normalized, we have experienced strong sales of our seasonal products. The strength of our needs-based, demand-driven business continues as the team is effectively managing inventory levels, inflationary costs, and pressures across the global supply chain. We believe we are well positioned to have a strong second quarter," said Hal Lawton, Tractor Supply's CEO.
