Ok, just confirming I've got an order from Portillo's coming to my house in 45 min. I ordered the Italian beef sandwich, a polish hot dog, a beef and cheddar croissant, some fries, and a piece of chocolate cake.
I busted $1.55, selling in $1.70s 3/4s, I don't like carrying enough stock to buy three mobile homes. $1.77 RTQ
Yeah this could be a really good growth story. I'm still a little reticent though, as it has been a non-stop Cramer favorite. It IPO'd about a year and a half ago around $26 and shot up pretty fast to an all-time high of around $56. One of the things I am concerned about, and perhaps if you like it and decide you'll order again, next time order in person at the restaurant. The biggest battle these types of places have right now, and going forward for sure, is training and keeping quality help. Are the stores busy? Are they clean? General level of employee enthusiasm? Bathrooms clean? Are you so impressed that you would want to own one? (Not that you would.. but just in theory if you were looking for something like this) I have told this story here once or twice, but back in the day, I walked into one of the first 50 CMG's and was blown away. This was real early in their story. I was so impressed the next time I went back I inquired about franchising and whether or not it was publicly traded. That was probably about 3 or 4 years prior to the IPO (after MCD had bought in and then spun off). When they IPO'd I got in at $42 ish,... it went down to $38... and I bailed in the $60's. Oh, and lets not forget, Cramer hated the stock at first, for quite awhile too. Now he says no one does it better. But who cares what he says anyway. Also the price Baron. While it may not matter to you, did your lunch appear to be a good value for the money? My CMG story... I couldn't believe how great of a value it was. And the lines in the stores reflected that. If Portillo's has that same moxy, and they can walk that fine line between keeping employees happy financially while still generating a decent profit and providing a competive value at a great taste... then their projected growth of 600 plus stores will work, and $20/share should be a steal. Thanks Baron for checking it out for us. Your opinion on this is gold.
Oh please. I've been to a dozen Portillo's in Chicago. Over 300x. The food is excellent. Beef and cheddar croissant. Fries are very good as well. You dudes are really buying the shares bc they opened a restaurant in Florida?
Thank you so much. The line that brings the propane gas from the tank outside.. that is I imagine plugged into the dryer with some sort of stop valve? My fear is that I slowly pass out here...
