This past Dec I did something very close. My "2023 Year Of AI" post That's another instant classic with a lot of great tech ideas that have all gone AI crazy except for a few...

It's the big ideas i know you all love... So sports teams.... Retail, AI let's roll......

    NEXT STOP 4,200.

  3. Bernstein managing director Toni Sacconaghi said Friday that AI technology will evolve over time, suggesting that some setbacks are likely to take place at times but that the overall concept represents a "clearly breakthrough" innovation.

Sacconaghi's comments camein the wake of rising interest in AI during the early part of 2023, spurred in part by OpenAI's ChatGPT, which Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) has integrated in its search engine Bing. Meanwhile, Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) has launched an experimental conversational AI chatbot called Bard, which ran into some trouble at a public unveiling event.

At the same time, China’s Baidu (NASDAQ:BIDU) is also developing an AI-powered chatbot similar to ChatGPT called “Ernie bot," expected to launch next month.

"This is an evolutionary technology and with any evolutionary technology ... there is a learning curve," the analyst said in an interview with CNBC. "Users are learning and companies are learning but I do think this notion of conversational AI is a really transformational thing."

He added: "It's ultimately going to change the way that human beings interact with computers going forward in a way that is much less discreet and much more conversational."

To prove his "evolutionary" point, Sacconaghi pointed to Google's (GOOG) (GOOGL) Bard chatbot rollout event, which included well-publicized issues in its demonstration. Still, the Bernstein analyst argued that, despite these setbacks, the notion of conversational AI concept is "clearly breakthrough".

Meanwhile, he spotlighted some limitations over technological algorithms, which will eventually evolve.

Looking at the mentioned stock movement in Friday's intraday session: MSFT and GOOGdown about 2%and BIDUdown about 5%.

Over a period of one year, tech giants have underperformed broader market index:[IMG]

Tech-focused ETFs are also in negative territory in Friday's intraday session: Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) -1.47%; Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) -1.74%; iShares Global Tech ETF (IXN) -1.45%; Direxion Daily Technology Bull 3X Shares (TECL) -5.4%; Vanguard Information Technology ETF (VGT) -1.75%; iShares U.S. Technology ETF (IYW) -1.84%.

Looking at 2023 so far, AI stocks have seen a significant surge. For instance, C3.ai (AI) has more than doubled since the end of 2022. BigBear.ai Holdings (BBAI) has jumped more than 400% on a year-to-date basis, while SoundHound AI (SOUN) has nearly tripled.

Meanwhile, AI will likely provide additional opportunities for Big Tech players and companies poised to deliver the infrastructure for the emerging technology. This includes names like Nvidia (NVDA), Ambarella (AMBA), Microsoft (MSFT), Alphabet (GOOG) (GOOGL), Apple (AAPL) and IBM (IBM).

................... Or basically everything stoney said in Dec.-

    • Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund evaluated acquiring Formula 1 from its owner Liberty Media (NASDAQ:FWONA) to add to its sports portfolio last year.
    • Liberty Media (FWONA) ended thoseSaudi ambitions last year as it wasn't interested in selling, according aBloomberg report, which cited people familiar. Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund valued F1 at well above $20 billion, including debt.
    • The PIF remains interested in F1 and would be a serious bidder if Liberty Media (FWONA) were to change its mind, according to the report.
    • Liberty Media (FWONA) agreed to buy Formula 1 from a selling consortium including CVC for $4.4 billion in 2016.
Maybe it's just me but if I buy something for $4.4 bil 7 years ago and someone want to give me over $20 Bil today -> I say where do I sign.....

  4. Sometimes you just need a good Indian tech guy.

Our friend who had her business hacked and held ransom for $800 has recovered her mailing list, gotten back control of her Instagram acct and secured a victory over her ransomware attacker.

How she did it: She got this Indian dude who went uber deep into everything, backtracked and found this guy! Got into his computer, hacked his password and stole everything back!!!!

Score 1 for the good guys!!!

  5. Lots of waves on HD.

This is one of those rare cases I would let them report and then pounce.
If they sell off The Option King may come around.

In general it's not a good chart... but there is a fast move up here coming I think soon.

  7. SAT-

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.1% in last week's stock market trading. The S&P 500 index was down 0.3%. The Nasdaq composite rose 0.6%. The small-cap Russell 2000 advanced 1.4%.

For sure the week felt worse than it was. They are some warning signs no doubt about that.
When stocks like Air B N B and ALB tun in good reports trade steady in a big down day, trapping folks, only to dive over 10% on a flat day is worrying. Air B & B is that type of stock it always disappoints.

I think the bigger picture we have to ask ourselves two questions.

1> How can France and England be hitting new all time highs and we are over 10% away?

I have to say in my many many years of investing the US always led and Europe followed.
    This is backwards.

What does it mean? It could be valuations it was just that much cheaper to start over there or it could be something deeper.. maybe related to the US dollar. Maybe related to the Funding of the Gov question.

2> Bond yields have shot back up. This is bad for everyone but why have stocks ignored that fact this time around? Going by the last two or three times this has happened we should be right around 3,800 now.

What is the market telling us?
