  2. 2nd Holiday Tale takes us to Boston)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

As a former student of Boston University I get Bostonia Magazine which breathlessly gives updates about BU. It's a fair read they do a good job.

I should note that I gave my first ever donation to the school very generous as my son was applying and they said No. Yet the keep calling!

The story was of a $100 mln dollar grant to Med school. That's a big one. And it had a pic of these two old guys both with wheel chairs standing up to receive the applause they so rightfully deserved.

Two very private and successful men. Edward Avedisian & Aram V. Chobanian. It's a very sweet story as one man wanted to give the large gift without credit and then upon pressure from the school asked that his BU friend get the credit and then he refused and it went back and forth until they agrred to co take the credit!

Two uber successful men one is a cardiologist world renown and one is a clarinetist for the Boston Pops...

I was about to put down the mag the heart surgeon with more money than God gave the donation and then brought along his friend the arty clarinetist for the Pops.. I got it. Then I realized woa- it's flipped- The clarinetist gave the $100 mln!

Avedisian is retired after four decades with the pops but it was the stunning investments he made that allowed him to give away $100 mln.

Being old helps but here is an example of the very few who have the Golden Touch.
You can't teach this. It would be easy to underestimate the old guy playing the Clarinet, that's why I never do---

  6. AppHarvest kicks off third season ahead of schedule with shipments of tomatoes 08:03 APPH AppHarvest announced it has kicked off the third season of harvesting ahead of schedule with commercial shipments of tomatoes from its 60-acre high-tech indoor farm in Morehead, Ky. As AppHarvest works to quadruple its number of farms in 2022, the company continues construction on a fourth facility, a 60-acre farm in Richmond, Ky., that will grow tomatoes. "With the experience of two seasons of harvests, the Morehead farm is seeing significantly improved quality and yield, which largely can be attributed to task completion rates of crop care specialists meeting and sometimes exceeding 100% of goal," said AppHarvest Founder & CEO Jonathan Webb. "We're developing a tenured workforce and seeing benefits of promoting from within to help drive efficiency and quality from folks who have grown the business with us from the ground up." The AppHarvest team has continued to enhance training with routine quality checks of crop care tasks, which facilitates quick retraining if needed.

Frontier Lithium initiated with a Buy at Stifel 07:55 LITOF

Salesforce lowered bar 'looks achievable,' says Morgan Stanley 07:33 CRM Morgan Stanley analyst Keith Weiss said that the firm's checks point to a "mixed performance" in Q3 for Salesforce, which he notes is a "second consecutive quarter" that checks were mixed, but given that the company took Q2 earnings as an opportunity to de-risk the forward outlook by "slashing" the FY23 revenue target and guiding to an "undemanding" reported growth figure for cRPO in Q3, he thinks the "lowered bar looks achievable." Weiss has an Overweight rating and $273 price target on Salesforce shares.

  8. Brazil has gone from last EM place standing to another sell country.

UBS double downgrades Petrobras on upcoming direction 'switch' 07:31 PBR UBS analyst Luiz Carvalho last night double downgraded Petrobras to Sell from Buy with a price target of R$22, down from R$47. The analyst expects an "upcoming switch in the company's direction." The upcoming years are "looking more somber than the heights Petrobras has reached," Carvalho tells investors in a research note. Under Brazil President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the analyst has become "substantially more cautious" given early comments from Lula's transition team. Petrobras' recent years of debt reduction and significant dividend payments are "on a path of reversion" and higher investments pose a key risk, contends Carvalho.

  9. Less supply as Christmas is never a good thing...!

Apple iPhone demand remains strong, supply could be issue, says Canaccord 07:29 AAPL Canaccord analyst T. Michael Walkley said demand for the higher priced Apple iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max remain at elevated levels, leading us to slightly lower our estimates. With Covid-19 restrictions adversely impacting the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max assembly in China, he anticipates demand will outstrip supply into the March quarter. Walkley reiterated his Buy rating and $200 price target on Apple shares.

  10. American Homes 4 Rent assumed with a Buy at BTIG 07:20 AMH BTIG analyst Michael Gorman assumed coverage of American Homes 4 Rent with a Buy rating and $38 price target. The single-family-rental market has continued to see strength through 2022 even as comps have become more challenging, and American Homes has been able to put up solid operating fundamentals that should carry over into 2023, the analyst tells investors in a research note. While the dislocation in the single-family market creates some headline and valuation risk, this sector was borne out of turbulence in the housing market, and players like American Homes 4 Rent could capitalize on a choppy market and distressed sellers at better returns, Gorman adds.
