lol... only you. Back when VZ was just a little VZ... long before becoming a stock-picking legend, gvz would on rare occasions, put a 3 pack of Zingers in my school lunchbag. It was a big deal. I can still remember peeling the yellow icing off and eating it first.
So along those lines, I was looking up who owned Little Debbie. If it was publicly traded or not since there seems to be a land grab going on in the snack space. That would be a good one. Alas, it's private. But an interesting tidbit jumped out at me from their Wiki page: "As of late 2022, the cakes will not be sold in US Department of Defense Defense Commissary Agency and Navy Exchange commissaries. McKee has said[17] that the regulatory standards required of McKee Foods are too costly to continue supplying the commissaries." What possible lack of regulatory standards can ban it from DOD Commissaries, but are lax enough that I can walk into any grocery in America and get my beloved Oatmeal Cream Pies? You need to look into this @Overnight
Because comparatively, they taste like crap. Maybe a regulatory standard of those commissaries is flavor?
I'm being serious here. Besides, don't be silly, those Peanut Butter bars, whatever they call them, are awesome. And don't be bad mouthing my beloved oatmeal cream pies. Those things are a goldmine from a brand recognition standpoint. Walmart alone probably sells a million cases/week. I wanna know why DOD banned Little Debbie.
Commissaries bid adieu to Little Debbie snack cakes By Sarah Sicard Sep 7, 2022 Little Debbie snack cakes will no longer be sold in commissaries. “Grief after all is the price we pay for love,” wrote grief therapist David Malham. Soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen and coasties alike will soon know the sadness that comes when something beloved is lost. This is in reference, of course, to the news that commissaries will soon no longer stock shelves with Little Debbie snack cakes. Gone too soon are the nights when a sad sailor on 24-hour duty could pace the aisles and seek solace in a Swiss Roll. And no coastie will ever again indulge in an Oatmeal Creme Pie. McKee Foods, the maker of Little Debbie snack cakes, has said it can no longer shoulder the burden of providing the sweets to the Defense Commissary Agency and Navy Exchange Service, company spokesman Mike Gloekler told Stars and Stripes. The regulatory standards are simply too costly. “As supporters of the men and women who serve the United States military this was a very difficult decision for us to make,” he said. “We believe in the mission of forward-deployed troops, and we understand the impact that the comforts of home have on morale. Perhaps some will see an opportunity to streamline federal contractor compliance.” And while Little Debbie snack cakes will still be sold in off-base grocery stores, the company’s dwindling stock on commissary shelves is sure to be a blow to morale. For the butter bars who love Nutty Bars, it’s a day of great mourning. ___________________________________________ There it is right there: "Perhaps some will see an opportunity to streamline federal contractor compliance." Not "green" enough, or not "gender fluid" enough would be my guess.
I got sidetracked on this Little Debbie thing. I hope I was right about TSLA for ya though. Stoney should dip into one of those "I push around millions in 11 different accounts" and send Sgt Garcia a few cases of Nutty bars: The news did not go down well with Air Force Staff Sgt. Johnathan Garcia, 28, a laboratory technician for the 374th Medical Support Squadron at Yokota Air Base, Japan. He stockpiles Little Debbie treats for his shop, he told Stars and Stripes via Facebook Messenger on Thursday. “I buy Little Debbie snacks almost every other week,” he said. “My department sells them in our sunshine fund to pay for morale activities and going away gatherings. I’m a little upset because there are really no equivalent products to buy off base while overseas and I really like my Zebra Cakes and Nutty Bars!” https://www.stripes.com/theaters/as...le-debbie-snack-cakes-commissary-7187093.html
