Albertson's the supermarket? I ran a search and no Van mention that I can find. I would love to use a Van name in the marketing if there was buy call on this let me know.-!
Only me- So I go to this liquor store a town away. And I ask the guy for help with Mezcal and I get one of those overly helpful shop keepers who tell you way too much without really saying anything and then I ask which is your favorite and he says the blah blah blah we don't have. That. Tough to get. Already I'm feeling like I'm missing something so phone rings and I by myself read the back of every one of these high proof wack bottles.. and it's very confusing and I say I 'm leaning towards this one-- just a guess from the bottle and vague descriptions and warnings.. Very Mexican.. not much translation and he says " Oh that's one of my favorites ". " Interesting style " or something close to that and as we are ringing up the order he says-- "They sometimes throw a chicken in..." or horse, maybe it was just chicken but- god I hope it wasn't dog! Who the fuck adds a chicken to fine spirits!! What have I bought for $85~~!@@~!$#$%^GYUHIJOKPL>"?
My wife says the guy was messing with me but I don't think so. Was he mad I cut him off when he was pontificating about Agave ? Why would you mess with a big ticket customer. ?
Listen to this it's from the little add on over the top of the bottle- it's the only words in English> Co-Op owned... uh oh. From the villagers of Oaxaca.. Ok friendly people.. Banhez Tobala is comprised of 100% wild tobala..<-- Oh no. I'm going to google translate if Tobala is chicken in Mexico I'm screwed!
A small agave varietal, the Tobalá, a subspecies of the Potatorum Family of agave, has broad, spade-like leaves. The compact size of this agave yeilds limited quantities of mezcal and takes 12-15 years to reach full maturation.
