"vanzandt, post: 5986038, member: 493912"] Biden's not gonna quit. He might even start creeping up in the polls again. Think of it like a football game Stoney... the first half is winding down and the Dems are down big. With one minute left on the clock, instead of going for a big play... they need to just take a knee, hit the locker-room, rally the players, and come out for the second half energized and laser-focused. You can't have the players in the locker-room screaming at each other and pointing fingers. They need a Nick Saban style--- "down 28 points"--- halftime tirade/oration to get the team, to be a team. Without that, the second half will be uglier than the first.[/QUOTE] He must have read my post. Biden sends defiant letter to Democrats He tells them the party needs to unite in order to beat Donald Trump. In a lengthy letter to Democrats, President Joe Biden on Monday says it is time for the party to come together so it can have the best chance at beating Donald Trump. Striking a defiant tone, he says, "We had a Democratic nomination process and the voters have spoken clearly and decisively. I received over 14 million votes, 87% of the votes cast across the entire nominating process. I have nearly 3,900 delegates, making me the presumptive nominee of our party by a wide margin. This was a process open to anyone who wanted to run. Only three people chose to challenge me," he says. "The voters of the Democratic Party have voted. They have chosen me to be the nominee of the party. Do we now just say this process didn't matter? That the voters don't have a say?" Biden adds, "I decline to do that. I feel a deep obligation to the faith and the trust the voters of the Democratic Party have placed in me to run this year. It was their decision to make. Not the press, not the pundits, not the big donors, not any selected group of individuals, no matter how well intentioned. The voters - and the voters alone - decide the nominee of the Democratic Party.vHow can we stand for democracy in our nation if we ignore it in our own party? I cannot do that.I will not do that."

2024 election may be a 'bloodbath' for Dems if Biden runs As President Biden faces mounting calls for him to drop out of the 2024 presidential race, AGF Investments chief US policy strategist Greg Valliere joins Catalysts to discuss the president's future in the race and what could happen if he stays on the ticket. Valliere explains that the question around Biden's status as the Democratic presidential nominee could continue until the Democratic National Convention in mid-August. However, that doesn't mean the calls for him to step down will subside: "If Biden makes another gaffe or says something that upsets people, at some point he's going to have to go. So, I'm not positive that he is going to make it." He notes that Democrats are in disarray over the possibility of not just another Trump presidency but the potential to lose a majority in Congress and governorships across the nation. He states, "That would be a bloodbath for the Democrats, and that's a plausible scenario if he [Biden] is still on the ticket." Because of these high stakes, Valliere believes that there is a solid chance that vice president Kamala Harris could take the reins as the Democratic nominee. Valliere warns that if Trump is elected, his economic policies would likely add to inflation. As the Federal Reserve continues its fight to curb inflation, he explains that the tension between Trump and Fed Chair Powell "would not be well received by the markets."
