Says pretty much every anti-education, anti-science conservative who wants to go back to the days when people actually didn't think critically and did what they were told. What university did you graduate from and with which degrees that led you to this belief?

The "good old days" of education were largely pedantic memorization. My high schooler has taken college level calculus and his senior year will be taking differential equations, same with physics, chemistry, and history. Public school and he's in no way exceptional compared with to upper half of his class. By way of contrast, you even made it to 12th grade in Little House in the Prairie you were memorizing history dates and your 'rithmatic tables, and learning "manners" which said never to question what your elders told you, i.e. "whatever you do don't think critically". Why in the hell would we want to go back to that, unless you want to go back to living in sod huts with no plumbing, freezing in the winter and cooking in the summer. And that was for the lucky white folk! What an asinine comment.

Sure, and now, with our "modern" educational system, the ONLY thing the "students" ever care about (assuming some weirdo does not shoot them all with a machine gun first) is this : "Is this going to be on the test?"

Yep, we've come a long way!

Too bad I am busy nursing a trade right now, but we will talk some more later.

The last I heard of this was that human trials have started in stage 2........whatever that means.
At least it passed stage 1.

If there's one unvaccinated kid, there's more. The anti-vax community is really spreading. And it might not be the vaccinated people for whom this is dangerous. It's those people who cannot get vaccinated, for example people who are born immunocompromised, or have an illness that requires immunsuppressing drugs - their only protection is herd immunity. As more and more people don't vaccinate, herd immunity is decreasing.

I'm curious what your personal experience has been that's driving these convictions? Having lived in 10 different states while in the military with kids in school in 4 of them, I feel like we're either living in different America's or you're getting your information second hand from conservative news sources while I'm getting mine firsthand as a parent of kids actually in school right now?

You have taken differential equations right? At least calculus? If so, you seriously believe those are subjects that, combined with everything you need to know to even start to grasp the concepts, yield to "Is this going to be on the test?" Have any specific examples of that?

As I said, there are certainly schools that can do much much better and we should try to help them achieve that. And there are simply kids who don't have the drive or intelligence to try hard at school. That hasn't changed since "Little House on the Prairie" days despite all the geezers with the "kids these days" whining. But you completely failed to address my point; are you really saying my child taking diffy q in a public high school would have been learning more in a one room schoolhouse with a single k-12 teacher? That's patently absurd, so I get why you'd try to avoid answering it, but at least admit to the absurdity of it otherwise you don't appear as someone genuinely interested in discussing the topic but instead just a parrot of political talking points which you aren't, right?

How long do these phase 3 vaccine trials last usually?

My logical guess puts it at about a month.

I've been hearing stories from within the research fields that there has not been enough representation in the trials by those that Covid-19 tends to kills / make very ill. That is very problematic.

Also, the issue is long term effects from a vaccine or Covid-19 itself. That's something you can not speed up / expedite. If they do that, distrust grows within the community about the safety of the vaccine especially if there's been any political involvement. If the latter happens and there's one case...just one...in which someone has a bad side effect...

Depending upon which poll you decide to believe...50% to 70% Americans say they will not take a vaccine that's released this year 2020 because they believe it will be unsafe due to it being rushed.

In my opinion, anyone (researcher, doctor, nurse, politician) that states that a vaccine is safe...they should be the first one to take it as in the Canaries in the Coal Mine.

The below timeline is for normal trials. In contrast...trials for Covid-19 has been expedited as in its much faster than the info below.

How Long Does a Phase 1 Clinical Trial Take?

The length of a phase 1 study is typically several months.

How Long Does a Phase 2 Clinical Trial Take?

The length of a phase 2 study can span several months to 2 years. This phase involves up to several hundred people, with researchers looking for the effectiveness and safety of the drug over a relatively short period of time.

How Long Does a Phase 3 Clinical Trial Take?

The length of study for phase 3 clinical trials is usually 1 to 4 years. This phase involves 300 to 3,000 patients, with tests designed to determine the drug's longer-term effects.

The Right to Withdraw at Any Time

Participation in a clinical trial is completely voluntary, so you have the right to withdraw from the clinical trial at any time, for any reason.

If you do stop your participation for any reason, you will continue to receive care and advice on your treatment options. You will be asked to return for a final evaluation by the trial doctor, which may include a physical examination and/or laboratory tests.

Phase III trials are typically several years! I'm pretty sure there are few if any that have been completed in less than 6 months, let alone a month.
