90% of my trades involve stocks which have gapped, and everything I've learned is through observation. Wether a gap is filled or results in a continuation seems to change weekly depending on overall market conditions.

Some of the gaps I've played today and yesterday are SMTS, QSII, IVGN, CNCT and ELOS, which has dropped almost five points after gapping up on positive news intraday yesterday.

As far as stocks being too slow compared to the indices, I do not think this comment could be any further from the truth.

  2. Lefty I'm happy for you, really I am but I am still entitled my opinion and after many years trading gaps I make good money from them too so chill out.

I was merely pointing out the FACT that with electronic trading being what it is these days Gaps as they where commonly referred to no longer exit and that the original poster would be wasting his time looking for any material on something that isn't real anymore, especailly in the futures market.

sheesh this forum is too much at times.

This is a chat forum read between the lines for the MEANING of peoples comments.

MORON (since you went and called me names right back at you)

    Samson is technically right !

True gaps RARELY exist anymore in the sense that electronic trading and 24 hour access allow most of the price to be in the stock or index already.

That being said you still can make money trading 9:30 opens as you did in the old days but it is different now and requires different skills.

Some of you guys that may have not been around as long as us old timers wouldn't know the difference but it has changed a lot.

  10. Thank-you for the kind words, and I appreciate your interest in The Journal. I trade the opening gaps unless I receive an early trade signal from one of my 'Hershey Equities." The gap opening method I use has put more than a few dollars in my pocket over the years. I wonder now; do I need to give that money back?:D
