"First, take a break from training for 10-14 days. Next, resume training using only 3-5 exercises and train once every seven days. If results are not quickly obvious insert an extra rest day until they are forthcoming (at our facilities we find every 7th day to be average). Lastly, have the courage to refrain from training until you are recovered — the only thing you will regret is the time you wasted by training more frequently." My unscientific and complete amateur opinion on this would be this method probably works well if you're already where you want to be. Let me rephrase that. If you have already achieved your ideal weight and BMI. I highly doubt this method would get positive results for the guy/gal who has let themselves go to hell and is now trying to get back in decent physical shape, and I'm not just talking about weight loss.
Again, not my cup of tea, either. But keep in mind that they talk about gaining rather than only maintaining. I just thought it would be an interesting contrast to the "more is better" mantra. And, for what it's worth, keep in mind that they advocate going to absolute and total failure and then holding for a time for each exercise before moving to the next one. They're very big on max intensity. And SuperSlow, which I don't much like, either. Although my volume is higher than what they propose, reading the article does help ease my mind some more about making initial cuts in my overall volume beginning in ~mid-2012 or so and then slowly ratcheting downward from there. (Confirmation bias? )
I was thinking more along the lines of "ass over teakettle." And what's with that "squat rack," eh? When I did barbell squats, I always used a squat cage. In my mind, using anything else is playing with fire if going heavy.
