Baron, what has turned you on so hard for becoming a physical fitness freak?
When did you adopt this; like only the last few years, or all your life?
    Just curious.
We need more people with this outlook in this country.

One of the most interesting things I've noticed about myself is how fast my body adapts to my current training regimen. It seems that no matter what exercise, set range, and rep range I choose, my body gets used to that particular combo within about 4 or 5 workouts. What got me sore in the first few workouts of a routine no longer gives me even a hint of soreness by the 4th or 5th workout. So these days, I switch everything up once per month. So lets say for example that in a given month I'm working out 4 days per week with an average of 15 sets per workout and each set is in the 8 -12 range. The next month I will switch everything up and only do two sets per workout, one set each for two body parts. But the trick is to do 100 reps of each exercise with minimal rest. So instead of doing 4 sets of squats with heavy weight like you normally would, you squat with no weight whatsoever (ass to floor) slowly for 100 reps. The burn you feel is pretty crazy and the soreness to follow will make you wonder how it's even possible to be that sore when you did nothing but squat your own body weight. And the same rule applies to any other exercise. Try doing a single set of dumbbell presses over 100 continuous reps slowly with 30lb or 40lb dumbbells and tell me how you feel within the next day or two.

Another variation I like to do is picking two exercises for a workout and doing 7 sets of each exercise to failure within the 4 - 6 rep range. Again, the set range and rep range is radically different than what I wrote above, which shocks your muscles into a new type of adaptation.

I have always been interested in fitness, but have enjoyed it even more now that I'm in my 40's. Now it seems like looking and feeling young is more of a challenge, but I like that challenge. And it's always gratifying to be among a group of guys who are about the same age as me and I look around and see that pretty much everybody else is overweight and aging rapidly.

    Fantastic!
I hope this thread encourages others to try to make their lives better.

If some of you are following this thread, don't get discouraged.
Don't try to achieve a level that somebody else may be able to achieve.
But, set your own goals, start slow and go from there.

The main thing is that you keep moving and get regular exercise, regardless of your age, abilities, or level of achievement.
Find a sport or activity that you really enjoy.
    Exercise offers something for everyone.
    Just get started!

    Hi baron,
great to hear you are on a plan.
i am close to 60 but look way younger. Wide hard shoulders. Erect back. Cut legs.
almost a 6 pack but I find it hard to get below 15% fat and stay there.
my deal is hard swimming most days 2 km.
i am consistent year in year out.
    .
fasting occasionally is good but i can only do that for short periods like a month. So i eat what i like but watch the total intake and throw in bran most days as a fibre supplement.

the only time i got fat was when i went full time trading and the stress broke me.
i couldnt believe that i was suddenly invisible to women and men werent in the least wary of me..so i went back to hard training.

now my wife- half my age- is smitten with me .
my affairs are with women in their 20s..:)

Priorities vary but feeling and looking fit is way better than pigging out out and living at an office desk.

  6. Really. So your wife is half your age and your multiple mistresses are almost half your wife's age? That must be one helluva 2km swim.

I'll be going on TRT shortly for low T. Technically 'cheating' when it comes to this thread, but should make it all quite easier ;P

Yeah, I've been doing HIIT quite a bit lately. Like today for example, I did 5 sets of lat pulldowns and 5 sets of jump squats to failure. For those that don't know, jump squats mean that you squat down all the way down and then jump straight up in the air so that both feet come completely off the floor. You can cheat with little baby jumps but the point is to really jump so that your feet come at least 6 inches off the floor. When you try to do them correctly like that, 20 reps of jump squats will burn you out pretty good. Alternating between the lat pulldowns and the jump squats had me pretty winded by the end of the workout. Total time: 21 minutes.
