  1. At this point in life it seems that pain is like a virus that moves from one point to another and we're never really free from that virus. Pushing through it is no longer an option. I adjust, lighten the load, work around it, wait until it heals and the pain moves, adjust again. The objective is to be able to keep at it. That in and of itself is more than most will do. Getting old ain't for pussies.:)

Just tried it. I agree with you 100%. I like the seeds in it, too. That makes it kind of unique, and I like the fact that it contains chia and flax, both staples in my diet. It was pretty expensive, but only a buck more than the other Ezekiel bread I've been getting. It was the last loaf they had today, so I'm glad I was able to get it. I'd say there's a pretty good chance I'm going to switch. Held off on the almond butter today (way to pricey, will get some cheaper elsewhere).

Thanks for the heads up! Good stuff! [IMG]

+1. Great post. Letting injuries heal with rest and ice doesn't mean we can't train around them. We just have to make sure our injuries aren't permanent, and solid form combined with common sense will go a long way in that dept.

Various joint supports are great for going a little further on some moves, but to my knowledge, no such support exists for shoulder support.

Something I'd like to mention regarding wrist straps. I've heard some say if you use them, you don't do anything for your grip, so they refuse to, even when lifting heavy. I find that if I don't have to worry about my grip, I can focus on the muscle in training. I also consider them a way of training safer on certain moves. Plenty of other ways to strengthen grip. For myself, as with any of the joint supports I use, I don't apply them until I'm at a weight were I feel form and safety become an issue. I want to take every exercise I do to it's natural limit for a given type of cycle without any assist, including wearing a belt.

  4. I'm glad you like the bread. Yes, they sometimes don't have the loafs on display in the store freezer. They seem to be the first to go. When that happens, I ask a store employee to check in the back and, more often than not, they have more. In my store anyway. But to be on the safe side, I usually have anywhere from 5 to 10 loaves in my freezer just in case.

When you try the almond butter, I think you might find it hard to go back to peanut butter except for variety on occasion. It's about twice the cost of peanut butter, but I don't slather very much on the bread anyway.

You mentioned something about wrist straps in another post. Personally, I don't like them. They just feel wrong. I've experimented with a number of items and materials for better grip in my pulling movements, notably pull ups, in order to get that coveted extra rep or two. For years I was using the inner tube of a bicycle tire, cut to size and split, but the rubber degrades over time and leaves marks on the hands that are hard to wash off. More recently, I used a large balloon cut to an appropriate shape for each hand and it works very well. It doesn't protect the hand from callouses and that's okay, I don't mind having minor ones on my hand. But it provides an exceptional grip, and better than anything else I had previously tried. I easily get at least one extra rep on my weighted pull ups, probably two.

About a month ago, I saw a girl doing some physiotherapy-type exercises with a pilates stretch band and I had an idea. I asked if I could place it around a bar to see if it provides a good grip. It does, as good as the balloon. So when my balloon grips wear out, I'll be buying a pilates stretch band and cutting it into 5-inch strips. I'll have good grips for years. The bands come in different colors, signifying different strengths/resistance levels. If I'm not mistaken, the blue is the strongest, so I will go with that one with the hope it will last the longest because it is presumably a tad thicker than the weaker bands. If you ever have a chance to try one of these materials, I'd be interested to know how they compare to the straps for you.

    Just my 2 cents.

I'm trying the genesis on the grill tonight with olive oil and garlic salt (no chives, though). We had it in the toaster yesterday with a little smart balance (my wife threw some blueberry jam on hers...she likes the bread too...we're sold...are you getting a commission from those guys? Well, you should. ;)

My last food for of the day is whey protein containing a reasonable amount of slow digesting casein. Maybe some low carb fruit, too. Not sure if I can call it a bedtime snack. While on this diet, if the end of my window is right before I crash, I guess it could be called that.

I've been having a hard time keeping my window locked. It's fluctuates daily by an hour or two, though I'm trying to keep the window itself at 8 hours. I'm taking a half serving of BCAA right out of bed in the morning along side my pill supplements. This week I'm moving my workouts to evening, which means I'll be utilizing more whey protein and less pure BCAAs. Those will come from the protein. The workouts will be in my food window.

I flipped the workouts a couple weeks ago, but had a much harder time with them, even though they were in my food window. The gym is about 20 degrees hotter at night, which may or may not have been a factor. I may do my cardio after instead of before, also. The cardio seems to take more out of me in the evenings. I'm curious to see if and how my end results change. I may actually consume less calories doing this. We'll see.

There's nothing wrong with your feeding window moving around as long you are staying consistent with the 8-hour length of it.
