Saddam Hussein wanted to sell his oil in Euros instead of American dollars. Soon after that Iraq was invaded. Gaddafi wanted to create a gold backed Dinar shared by several north African countries and then sell his oil with that currency. A gold backed Dinar would be a true threat to a fiat based American dollar. Is that why Libya was invaded?
