    What does

Component 'Tws.ocx' or one of it's components not correctly registered: a file is missing or corrupted

mean and how do I fix it?

It means FuturesTrader can't find the IB API 7.01 tws.ocx file necessary for it to run.
If you installed FuturesTrader V2, just download the update to v2.01 from my website, which should fix this problem.
Otherwise download the IB API from Interactive Brokers Website.

    FuturesTrader V2
FuturesTrader - The Simulator to papertrade Futures and Equities

If you liked FuturesTrader V1, you know one of the biggest disadvantages was: You couldn't customize it. Three different layouts, that was it.
Version 2 changes this: Move the differnet FT-modules around, see what you want to see, shut down the rest.

Most of the Windows have a small line at the Top and a rectangle in the lower right corner
Point your mouse to the small line, click the left mouse Button and move the Window around. Sometimes, it will not work at the first try, as the line is small to save space, but it works. The windows snap together, once your near another one, btw.
Point the mouse to the small rectangle in the lower right corner and resize the window. At the moment the contents of the window are not scaled (one step at a time, lol)

    The Menu is also new.
You can set nearly all internal variables through the Trade-Options, so if the Tradedesk seems crowded, deselect some of the things you see. Let me know if you still have too much clutter and we will add options to remove even more.

The new Status-Bar shows some important Trade Buttons, the clocks and the information line

If you have Dragon Naturally Speaking, join the Futures_Trader Yahoo group. Some are already using FT with speach commands. It works and support has been added so the buttons can be adjusted by speach instead of the wheel.

    Bond Traders:
Trading in Fractions is fully supported on the Tradedesk.

    Fade and Breakout Trades:
Point the mouse to the Linit Field and turn the wheel to add or substract a Delta. Attention: positive values always go in the direction of the trade, negative against, even if you go short. EG Breakout Short at 930 +Delta 0.50 = Limit order at 929.50. Test it in Demo first

Added the Blocktrade warner. Set the size of the Blocktrade you want to get an alert for each contract individually in the Symbols box.

What was the loudest complaint: FuturesTrader is too big.

So I finally added Scalability to FuturesTrader. Make it as small or as big as you like. But don't forget to save your settings when you'r done.

All Windows have a small rectangle in the lower right corner. Grab it with the mouse, click the left Button and change the size of the module, so it fits your screen.

Some Modules (Time and Sales, Orderbook, Tradebook, Quotesheet especially) can only be scaled by holding the CTRL-Button on your Keyboard down, when sizing the window. The reason is, that these windows, will show more Gridlines, when you resize the Window the regular way (Pointing the mouse to the small rectangle in the lower right corner and pressing the left mousebutton). But the easiest way to learn is to try it.

Made some changes to the Disaster Stop: It can be toggled between Max Loss / Contract or Max Loss per Trade
And you can select, that it can not be changed within a trade.

To see the Messageline as you were used to, select it under Trade-Options

    Larry,

please download the Full version of the Simulator for API 7.01 and install it.
If you decide to install in another folder than the default Futures-Trader folder (or your existing installation resides in another folder) you might copy your existing FuturesTrader.ini file (where all settings are saved) from your existing FuturesTrader installation to the new folder, you installed FuturesTrader in.
Thereby you get access to all your settings and the contract definitions you might have changed from the default.

    Hope this help,

    Chris

I will be doing a FuturesTrader V2 Presentation on Tuesday June 3rd after the market closes at 4.30pm EST in the [WoodiesCCIclub] Hotcomm room.

    Download this software: http://www.hotcomm.com/ftppub/hlsetupx.exe
    Instructions how to enter: http://www.sp2p.com/woodies.asp

I will cover the new features, which allow for arranging and rescaling of all windows within FuturesTrader, so you can setup your own tradedesk.
Then I will show you how to enter and manage a trade with FuturesTrader, and how to trade with the mouse wheel.
I will also cover the basic trading functions, like using Brackets vs. HardStops vs. Trailing Stops.
If time permits, we might take a glance at the advanced features like Stop and Reverse Trades, Reverse at target hit, Breakout and Fade trades.
As the market will be closed, I will be using the Ensign playback feed for the day, so we have actual live data to trade with.

I myself will be on vacation next week, and hope to see a lot of you on Tuesday the week after.

    Squarepants,

    either

    Select Windows/Select Ticker

doubleclick on the contract to be changed and enter a new contract expiry date.

Press Store and do it with all contracts in need of change

Then press close and select File/Save Settings to save your work

    or

upgrade on the new version available on the website
    http://www.futures-trader.net

It will do the change for you

    Chris
