Futures or Stocks?! The truth

Discussion in 'Trading' started by Spectra, Jan 11, 2007.

  1. Greetings,

Personally it doesn't matter to me. Maybe I should take pride in the fact that I own part of a great american company. I'm here to make money from trading and I will scalp the markets to do so. If I want to feel good about something, I'll give more to the united way.

  2. 100% agree !!! you can find stocks in some situations when there is 80%-90% probability that price will go one way, not other... can you find it in futures? may be above 50% probability, but not 80%-90% definitely !

  5. This is a false assumption.

There are times when there's a 80%-90% probability that futures trading instruments will move one direction.

However, this involves market seasonal tendencies and/or intraday market tendencies...

Different tendencies for day traders, swing traders and position traders.

They don't appear every trading day but when they do...its very profitable.

I've specifically discussed one particular market seasonal tendency with facts that can be easily verified by any one with access to S&P 500 futures going all the way back to 1990.

Also, you seem so sure this is not the case via the word definetly...

I'll let you use ET search menu to find my past discussion of one particular example of a 80% - 90% probability trade that will result in a profit...

    A very nice profit.

There are many more 80% - 90% high probability futures trades (not just the S&P 500) but I won't mention them because they are part of my edge.

Sharing one example (if you want to do the search) should be good enough to know for fact that they do exist.

As far I as I understand it's impossible to have level 2 in Forex, because of the way the market is structured.
Actually, because of the way the market is not structured :)

Company make economic value (discounted cash flow ). Dow index essentialy conglomerat
from 30 companies (ES,ERT,EN more),which make economic value.

EYM in this case derivative from Dow stock
    (DIA as example)

In real situation retail operator on EYM dissadvantaged to retail stock operator on DIA from folloving points in most of case

    1. All future brokers are FCM(trade from proprietary account against client interess)

    2. Low quantity of retail operators
can use high margin with great tactical skill

    3. CFTC accounts are not secured,
    SEC secured .

    4. Institutional operator advantage
against retail operator in future more as
in stock ( high platform /connection
    price,latency &)

    5. SEC is more responsible as CFTC

With which risk/reward relation by 1000
    (not 10-30) operations

If in 1000 operations some operator
    would make 60 % profitable trade's
    by reward/risk 1:1 (for 100-1000$risk 200-2000$ back by winning trade's)
he would millionar .Monkey would make
    50% of winning trade

The same for operator with 36% winning
trades in 1000,but with reward to risk
    3:1 (for 100-1000 $ risk -400$-4000$ reward
    by winning trade's)
