Futures traders must just be modest. Tax advantages are only beneficial if you can make $. .................................................................................................... The reason future traders do not post in the P/L thread is because they know those that post in the p/l thread are either trying to help themselves (nod is an example), or the rest just stroking their ego by posting paper sim stuff. Why would i need to post daily p/l for everyone else to see? Besides who says those are not ficticious? Do you believe everything you see in print? What gain would i receive from that unless i was planning to sell something? Futures traders are of a higher standard than regular old fashioned stock traders. Future traders actually get dressed and shave etc before trading. The money is in futures and daytrading enhances that in spades. I picture future traders eating out at a really nice restaurant leaving a good tip while i picture stock traders dining out at WAFFLE HOUSE and slipping out with at best a quarter tip. Sunday is pick on stock traders day, ha. Truth be known, most elder future traders switched over to futures even before futures became the daytrading instruments of choice because stocks were dogs to trade in the 1970's. Once we tried futures we were HOOKED for life. (i hate to admit it but we could be in for a long period of dull small range trading for a couple or so years) (dust off the notebook about range trading , ha) Future traders are less prone to bragging about the money than stock traders but they are much better at explaining what works and what does not. cfferrett in the chat room said excel or this puppy could be used to makeup stuff to post in the P/L thread if one wants to bs others. http://www.gimp.org/ CORRECTION: as spectra said , adobe photoshop can also be used, cfferrett said that, not excel. sorry cf. PS: TA works best in futures because there are more players watching the same setups. Futures traders must be greater disciplined players than your average stock trader though. When we get a "RUN" in ES or NQ either you anticipated that "RUN" or you will be flat wrong or sitting there with no position watching price take off. Future traders are anticipitory traders where stock traders can be reactive. That should open a can of worms and frost a few stock traders.
I agree. With futures you either succeed or fail. With stock trading when you're about to fail you become an investor. Stock traders are definately in general less traders than future traders.
Don miller is the only futures trader i've seen make big money scalping futures over a period of time. he made 1.6 mil last year and is on pace for 1 mil this year. Miller keeps $2 mil in his account trading 10-100 lots. The bottom line is anyone with 10k trading 10-20 lots with $500 margins will 99.9% fail. I position trade 50-100 lots with a 7 fig account.I must be able to take the wild swings and not be flushed out.
I can't tell if this whole post is a joke. Do you really think futures traders don't post in P/L because they are a more evolved trader? If so you are fooling yourself.
I don't post my P&L ever for various reasons. Why go through all that effort to get yelled at by jealous losers? They won't believe the results and will yell about photo shop. The only results you will believe are your own.
I posted my results many times and never got called a liar once. Maybe it's a reputation issue on your end?
I agree that in general futures traders have less regular / consistent returns so in the end they must be making less as a whole. However, there have been some futures traders on the P§L thread like Heavyhitter78, SpoozTop or XXXSkier that were making reallly good money. I am also sure that some of the Eurex guys, like Dogfish or Marky1 have been/ are still making( ? )really good dough just knowing the kind of size they were employing at times...
