  3. Speaking of interviews, I was working on the CBOE floor for about 4 months as a SPU clerk on a headset (I was about 19) and I was "interviewing" for a position as a clerk for a broker in the SPX. When the company's owner took me out to the SPX to meet the main broker, they were asking me a bunch of questions. Then the president asks me if I have a drinking problem. I quiclky reply no, he looks at his parner and at the same time they both say "we can work on that".

Welcome to a new paradigm :)

  4. I worked at the Merc for about a year in the SPU & SPU options. From the stories I heard the guy who payed 10k got ripped off pretty damn bad. :)
I heard several stories of runners/clerks offering thier services and I recall somebody getting caught in the restroom too...

Actually, that was in the stairwell, offering "services" for $25 a pop.

I don't want to sully the reputations of the exchanges here. I should add that the person referred to above lost her job and was banned from the floor pretty quickly, as she should have been.

What about those receiving the "services"? Are they still working?

I don't know. Trading brings out the best of people and the worst of people. Most of the time, only the extremes are talked about.

    exactly.

she (he? ) shouldnt have been charging money for that. she/he had a job didnt they? they should have done that daily just to keep their damn job.

by the way, is it true that in chicago, you used to get queues and queues of people outside the exchanges handing out resumes, sandwich boards saying 'giz a job' & basically begging for the chance to be a runner & progress to trader?

i used to work for a guy who used to work on one of the floors - he told me when he was a runner, his boss had them all pulling the tacks out of the office carpet with their bear finger nails on a hot saturday afternoon. whoever pulled the most tacks wanted the job the most and got trained up for a seat.
