Fundamental Mormons seek recognition for polygamy

  1. Bingo.

Apparently jem posted some crapola about my views re: abortion, which he knows nothing about. Par for the Faith-Based course in reasoning.

In fact my feelings about it have changed over the years. I used to feel that I would have no problem with it if I woman I impregnated decided to have an abortion; in fact, since I was on the road for so many years, a few along the way must have done :)

Now, though, I would have to say that I would not be in favour of it and would have to tell the woman as much. However, and this is what the faith mongers cannot seem to grasp, I will defend any woman's right to choose her own fate and will not impose my personal preferences on her.

Seems like such an easy concept, doesn't it? Not for the faith mongers, who think that because they believe in ghosts and goblins, society should remake itself 'in a manner more consistent with [their received] theistic ideals'.

The only solace for men of reason is that in a few hundred years this type of Cro-Magnon thinking will be relegated to the history books.

  2. In fact, "Christian" is not about acting. You need do nothing. All doing promotes the reality of the body. You are not a body. You are free.

well, I'll agree with you on one thing ... err, more accurately, you might agree with me on this, the more complicated the legal system has become so too has marriage ... chicken-and-the-egg?

which came first, complicated personal relationships, or the 70% of the total Global population of scumbag attorneys who call the US home ...

EDIT: the funny thing about this, it's mostly Darwinists arguing in favor of gay marriage ... talk about self-hating ... (more correctly, talk about hating everyone besides themselves)

    :p

  4. I do believe that the Islamic radical terrorists do say it it is Allah's
will that led them to fly airplanes into the WTC. They think the US is Satan.

As far as GWB saying God told him to go to war with Iraq, I think
he is saying this to piss off the likes of Bin Laden, ect. He knows
that they believe they are fighting Allah's war against us. So why
not turn their stupid reason for killing us back on them? It is genius!

You are obviously a Liberal, so you think everything, no matter
what it is, should be allowed because of some "freedom" concept.
No matter who it does damage to in the long run. Take the example
of you saying you would rather drive down the freeway with potheads
instead of drunks. I would like to see both drugs wiped off the map.
I think it is crazy the government sells alcohol and then puts people
in jail because they drink it! There are bars all over the place. This is nuts!

When it comes to humans having freedoms, there has to be a line
drawn where certain things are allowed and some are not.

Murder is not. Assault is not. Thievery is not. Drunk driving is not.
We could go on and on about what is harmful for mankind and what
    is not.

As far as being a Christian, I am not a Christian. Surprise!

But I do believe certain human behaviors are good for mankind
    and certain behaviors are not.

It is obvious that gays have spread a disease that is killing people
worldwide and it might actually destroy the whole human population.

If you want to believe this is good for mankind like one of the idiots
mentioned above in a post (said a population drop would help the
planet) then that is your right. But it doesn't make it right for the
ones who die from this terrible plague.

I see you mentioned about me giving ammunition to atheists. I
take it you are not atheist, but are a believer of something. What
do you believe in? Are you religious? What religion? It would be
    interesting to know.

Oh, and give me an example of where I have been illogical or irrational.

  5. One more thought I must add:

Some are saying that gay people are "born" that way so it must be genetic.

Well... perhaps in the future this genetic mutation can be fixed.

Like with other diseases. What do you think?

Is gayness a disease or is it a choice?

And why do these people have to have parades to show their pride?

I don't want to see this on the frickin' news every year.

They look so silly and weird... Kind of like mutants...

  6. "As far as being a Christian, I am not a Christian. Surprise!"

Given the levels of hatred, bigotry, intolerance you express...of course you are not following the past of Christ...

Your entire position is irrational, as it is founded in applying your own personal moral point of view, in a hateful way, to others.

"When it comes to humans having freedoms, there has to be a line
drawn where certain things are allowed and some are not."

    Certain things?

Like how consenting adults choose to have sex with other consenting adults?

    Ridiculous...

actually nik you told us about your views on abortion and the fact you supported criminalizing speech to protect gays.

Some of us had to point out to you that criminalizing hate speech and killing human beings via partial birth abortion was "progressing" towards Leninism not protecting individual rights and liberties.

  9. I think what we need to do, is actually show the dangers or damage that comes from hate speech.

If we can show how hate speech harms people beyond a reasonable level that comes with the right of free speech, then of course we should do something to curb or punish hate speech. I don't know why we need hate crime laws, it seems somewhat redundant. Most crime toward another human being is not the product of love.

I am not sure we have done the job of properly showing how hate speech damages our society sufficient to punish people for the practice of hate speech.

I think people have the right to march in anti-Gay parades, just as those who march in pro-Gay parades.

Those who are anti-something, generally don't have a good logical foundation to their position, so if we can expose the level of ignorance that they rest their case on, the hate speech can actually be demonstrative of what is wrong with bigotry, etc.

I think the primary concern of hate speech, is that it is powerful, and those who hate do have power in that hate. It can incite others to hate, but free speech should trump even that concern as long as we cannot directly find due cause to silence someone for their opinion, no matter hateful.

I also believe much still stems from the work of Hitler who used hate speech so effectively, and showed how a powerful speaker playing to the lowest aspect of human nature, i.e. hatred, intolerance, bigotry can work so well and efficiently to promote a cause, by using a scapegoat methodology.

In some fashion that is exactly what Ahnold did out here in Californeeeeeia when he was first elected. He said repeatedly the people of Californeeeeia were good, the problem was the politicians. Not much different really than Hitler saying the German people are good, the problem is the Jews...so put me in power and I will take the power away from the Jews.

It is appealing to the masses, because then the masses take no personal responsibility for their situation, and need not change their own ways that contributed to the problem in the first place...

  10. Yes! Good news! In the future, bodies will be done away with as some kind of mutation.

They look so silly and weird from the pov of formlessness.
