I've done that on a way too. Though I don't get involved into situations when it's a result of their own choice or complacency, to avoid sponsoring / promoting bad decisions. Eg. a relative buying a brand new car because they like how it smells and always wanted it and then struggling to make their mortgage payment. Despite all of that - thank you for reminding me of this. It certainly doesn't hurt to think of this again with a new perspective.
You use the past data everyday, perhaps you don't realize. "Time", cell phones gives time of the day, do you not believe time of day or week be same as yesterday or ten years ago? An apple fell to the ground 100 years ago, based on backtesting of once, that pattern shows it will fall down again. Patterns represent freedom, at least to me. We use so many patterns based on our own testing long ago, we don't even think about it today. Ever find a new way to tie one's shoes with normal shoelaces? What's funny, hours goes by and I don't even remember tying them.
Late last week I noticed lots of stocks having big down moves while market was near new high. So started having a closer look at longs every other day in anticipation of volatility spike. Got caught in this today in 2 accounts, what a nasty 1 day 70% down move.. Wiped all profits that system generated in 2 months. But that happens.
Thanks, it doesn't' bother me much. I post stuff like that here so people don't think my systems only take winning trades or risks taken are so great that "5% move in underlying would wipe my account" (quoting from some WSB post). 70% down is what stocks do and its already reflected in my position sizes.
I figured that you'd already let it run off like water off a duck's back or wouldn't have posted it, lol. I've read enough of your stuff to appreciate that you've been doing well for a loooong time. How many different thangs would you say that you have running/ trading on an average week? Do you like to code any price action stuff?
Who knows, maybe you know me better than I do by now ~40 trades per week, generated by ~5-7 strategies. In a way. I don't code any "pattern" per se, but all calculations are done off the price.
