one of my favorite movies... but the essence of samurai was to disregard the fear of death, embrace it, and focus while enjoying life... sure, their focus was fighting... but they were diversified.. they didnt just focused on using a sword, but also a lance, bow, hand to hand, etc...

  7. I became more sociable each year I worked, despite working completely alone. I don't think how you work affects your personality much, unless you do something like fight a bloody war or work as a prostitute for years.

You don't go to work to party or make friends, you go there to make a living and possibly to do worthwhile activity that gives satisfaction. Your social life is dependent on how you socialise, not how you work. The only advice I'd give is that social life is like work in that if you put in no effort you'll probably get poor results. Most worthwhile things in life required deliberate targeted effort to get good results, serendipity only goes so far.

  8. just the opposite for me

    I was brought up Jewish

and you had to go to a lot of Bar Mitzvahs and weddings

and what most goyam don't realize, you have to buy tickets for the high holidays, and the more you pay, the closer you get to sit, and that establishes your standing in the community

    fuck it man

    I'll just be a loner

I don't need all that shit

  9. I worked solo for years and became less anti-social. You can get your human interaction through social life - put in some effort there and there is no reason you should turn into a hermit. However, I think there are other major disadvantages to working alone, the main one being lack of an external checks on your mistakes, oversights, and deterioration in discipline - 2 minds are better than 1. Also, someone else who is enthusiastic about work, makes you more enthusiastic about work. Anyone working solo is going to be at a huge competitive disadvantage to someone working with a smart, motivated colleague.

So, if you are a very disciplined loner, and happy to chug along earning your keep without ever getting close to realising your full potential, then trading solo may be for you.

  10. yes, that is exactly right, I don't want to realize my full potential, I like to keep a little something in reserve
