Sometimes I wonder if there are traders at ET or stand-up comic wanna bes. :p

It may be unprovable whether or not the phase of the moon actually influences the market. I for one don't have the desire to be the one to prove or disprove it.

What can be said, however, is that market gains DO correlate with phases of the moon. This has been studied repeatedly by finance students as well as various market technicians, astrology oriented and not. Here is the result of one study. "Believe" it or not, dems da fax.

  3. I'm not purporting for one second that astrology has merit, but in the past, two seperate emergency room nurses I know independently corroborated that there are always significantly more accidents during full moons.

  4. the "Prophet" Mohammed borrowed "Allah" from the moon worshipers of his time when he was making up his self-serving religion.. perhaps there is something to the whole lunatic thing..

  5. A purely subjective observation: i was told by a great trader years ago to just be aware of trend changes AROUND the time of a full moon. Interestingly...this intermediate uptrend peaked 2 days before the full moon......and started 2 days after the last full moon!

    OWWWUUUUUU werewolves in london!

  6. This a classical test showing what is called the "Barnum effect". The description of the person is so fuzzy that it can fit everybody.

Now at the beginning of my post I have made a thread on numerology and tried Decoz software for fun see :
    http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13483&highlight=numerology

For example I have tried on Hitler, my brother, friend and me which is above. A few extract that is funny:

" The temptation, and the danger for you, is to think of yourself as the savior of the world, carrying the burdens of others on your shoulders."

    and it really insists:

"You are willing to sacrifice in order to advance your cause. Indeed, this seems to be a theme in your life. "

    Also

"The fantasy of the hermit or monk engaged in a life of study and
    meditation appeals to you."

How many of you think that he is savior of the world or want to live like an hermit :D

I have changed the name to see if it changes a lot, it doesn't so the software is heavily based on the birth's date.

For Hitler I was upset to see there was nothing special in the numerology given :)

My mother has also ordered when I was 12 my horoscope. It was said that I would die in mysterious circumnstance at age 22. I am still there so it was happily wrong (not for some of you but for me of course :D ).

  8. Exactly. And while I have not read any studies documenting changes in neurotransmitter flow, etc., this is, among those who study these things, the commonly accepted presumed mechanism of behavioral change.

That's where the word "lunatic" comes from: "moon-struck".

So let me see if I've got the anecdotal correlations down pat:
    Full Moon = more accidents
    Full Moon = market changes
    therefore
More accidents happen when market changes.
Those nurses have a heads up and they don't even know it.
