Frosty's trading bot goes live part 2

Discussion in 'Automated Trading' started by frostengine, Jun 18, 2007.

  1. What are you guys talking about?

The strategy that the bot uses is nothing short of a catastrophe.

It needs to be totally revamped, period ... and Frost trying to turn it on/turn it off and cherry pick what it does and when it trades not only defeats the purpose of having a trading bot, but it's just plain awful trading in the worst way.

Get it right or put it in the scrap-heap, but really, stop this bullshitting around Frost, it doesn't do you any good.

There are a number of automated strategies out there, I suggest you start looking them up to learn how to put together an automated system.

Or hey, the train wreck can continue, after all, you're operating under the illusion that you have plenty of time.

  2. am I the only one who finds 99% of jj's posts utterly useless?

anyways frost. i think this point was brought up before on the first thread, but have you tried different ways of charting good vs bad trades? if you find some temporal grouping of them then it might be a sign that there is room for improvement in your system to determine the current 'grooving' state of your system with the market.

  3. LMAO, here comes the cheerleading section.

Yes Frost, it would be a good idea to actually LOOK at a chart or three ...

... and I personally think you should try your best to try walterjennigs' idea of "temporal grouping" - OMFG, the tears are flowing. :D

Ah, enough of that! - lets hope you get into the grooving (Bwahahahahaha) next week.

    Good er, um ehhm, trading

P.S. WJ, have you ever even taken a trade?

You're annoying, JimmyJam, and your bittered comments add nothing constructive to the discussion.

  5. uhhh.. i assumed frost and interested parties would know what I was talking about. do you need me to explain what i meant? time is a powerful heuristic when trying to classify trading states.

i took one trade in my life. lost money on it and decided that trading by hand wasn't for me. too close to gambling.

its sad to see someone like you, who obviously doesn't know the first thing when it comes to creating algorithmic solutions to problem spaces repeat ad infinitum that everybody is wrong except you, thus implying it is not worth conversing about on a thread specifically created to talk about the subject.

normally i wouldn't waste my time addressing a troll like yourself but i see your misguided posts potentially doing harm to the readers of this thread.

    i:
    a) am a computer science grad with a background in math and a.i.
    b) work full time on my automated systems and make enough profit to live off of and continue r&d.
    c) have zero experience trading manually (other than that single trade)
    d) had zero experience in the 'trading' industry until may 2006.
    e) often turn my system on/off, effect it by hand and by my judgement without 'invalidating the whole purpose of having an automated system' as you put it, because its purpose is to make money, and that is what it does, even with my help.

because of this i feel like i was/still am in the same boat as frost, i am somewhat annoyed at reading your singular point of view posted anew every few days.

i am 100% proof that you are completely misguided in your views on this subject. and geeks like myself and frost can create profitable systems without prescribing to your line of thinking. period.

I think Jimmy Jam is correct. Frosty needs to revamp that thing, the losing days are just too big, too unexpected apparently, and too often.

  7. If everyone stops commenting, the bot will disappear too.

  8. Based on the last 27 pages of this thread, which are similar to feel and tone of Frosty's first "live trading journal", which was similar to Frosty's original journal, HE NEVER SHOULD'VE GONE LIVE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Well I guess this is one way to educate yourself, but it's pretty expensive! … but seeing as how he's making the same mistakes over and over again, like a hamster on a wheel, I don't really know what, if anything, he's learning from the process.

As for you other guys, well, good luck with your Pachinko trading programs, hope they keep the fantasy going for you.

  9. Don't you have something better to do ? If you had something useful to say - negative or postive - it would be different. But you manifestly don't.

  10. Pay attention tool.

You're supposed to have all of these issues ironed-out before you start throwing cash at the market.

This isn't a game of "let's turn the bot on and see what happens".

I'm very sorry you clowns don't get it ... but don't blame me for your general lack of knowledge and ignorance of everything trading related.
