  1. No, actually i thought he was sincere and admired him making the offer.

  2. I think the first thing everybody learns in business, as well designing automated trading systems to make it applicable to this thread.

"There is no such thing as a free lunch".

My machine learning prof repeated that at infinitum with respects to learning an unknown problem space.

  3. Pretty much

If the offer were legitimate if would have been made in private. The fact that it was in public takes away any legitimacy that it has.

It doesn't effect me one way or the other, but I think it was bullshit.

  4. WEll, I screwed up today......

I was playing with some changes last night and inadvertly disabled the live order system... so instead of the orders transmitting live it will just be basically capturing data today.. and sim trading, but not on the ib sim account........

Which since its contract rollover that may be a good thing.... although looking at how it is right now it would be up almost $200 already today..... just my luck the one day I screw up and don't turn it on live will be the big up day I been needing to get back into the green...

  5. basis

    basis

    *Good.*

Again, this is the REAL knowledge you need.

It's easy to backtest and make simulated money.

It's HARD to make real money. And when you're starting out, you have no idea why.

  6. Thanks to the cruelty the bot is now up nearly $600.... this was my big saving day that it has every now and then to make itself net positive.... can't believe I am missing it, all because I messed up a line last night which is causing it to issue duplicate order id's so my orders are not being executed!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Frost, since you discovered bot wasn't trading early this morning, couldn't you have corrected the code and activated mid-morning? Or even still, why not just trade the signals mechanically? Do you have the ability to do this if/when needed?

  9. I could trade the signals manually if I was present, and could have corrected the code if I had time.... but due to some issues at work today I did not have the time to fix the bug or watch it to trade the signals manually....
