That would be impossible, of course. If EVERYBODY starts out equally poor, there is no "wealth of others to redistribute". Progressive-ism is a temporary phenomenon. Once the makers of the society are stripped of their income and wealth and EVERYBODY IS POOR... the concept of Progressive-ism no longer has meaning. Progressives are PARASITES.... they come along and suck the life out of their host.... in our case, everything which made America what is was in the vision of our genius Founders.... American Progressives are in the process of KILLING all of that. Anyone who claims to be a Progressive, SHOULD BE SHOT DOWN AS A TRAITOR!
It depends on your definition of "Progressive". Many of our founding fathers were "Progressive". Ben Franklin was a "Progressive" - I'm aligned with him. "I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it". I'm with the Ben (the "Progressive") on this.
After reading the article, let me also state that there are many Chinese running small businesses where I live in the U.S. They are some of the hardest working (and best) people around. In my opinion they work harder than many native-born American citizens. The disparity in France, where the majority of the population works 35 hours a week at most would be even more glaring than it is in the U.S.
Completely agree. The progressives should also choose a country that lives up to their ideals. You wouldn't expect the Chinese to mount political change in France, would you?
That would be like Venezuela and Cuba. But why would they bother? The maker class has already been sucked dry.
ricter is playing word games. progressives are not not trying to progress to new ideas. progressives are trying to progress to big govt run by elites where workers have few rights and enough food to produce. the exact antihesis of a classical liberal. Classical liberalism is the opposite of progressive. Classical liberalism imo most closely resembles todays libertarian.
The ideas may or may not be new, but adaptation is the intent. One may disagree about whether the adaptation is progress or not, of course. The concept is basically affirmed from the right by W.F. Buckley Jr.'s famous quote re conservatives and history.
