FREE QuoteTrader

  1. Is anybody using this program to trade with yet? I finally got it hooked up to IB and running yesterday but when I put a test order on I got an error, so Im a little leery of it yet. I really like the layout and I hope they get the bugs out soon. I dont think Buttontrader and some of the others can be too happy about this developement.

  2. Brent,

Glad to hear it... and does Oanda, on its part, know about QuoteTrader's existence? ;)

IOW, seriously, shouldn't Oanda at least be included on the setup screen?

I've installed everything... how does one go about connecting to a particular broker, live? Your QuickStart Guide is silent on the subject... is there more documentation or are you still too beta for that?

Also, a suggestion: you might want to pick one name -- QuoteTrader or VisionTrader -- and stick with it, throughout your website, executables, emails and posts.

    apex,

Oanda was included in the ver I installed. However, I still can't connect to anything and don't see how to do so. I've emailed them.

  6. Yep, they finally got rid of that out-of-date download with 7 brokers and replaced it with one with 10, adding Oanda, Cyber and Refco FX. (Refco FX?... say, what year are we in?)

To see how to connect, press F1 (or click Help - Help Contents) to bring up the User Guide and read the section Understanding QuoteTrader - Formatting broker settings.

However, that still doesn't work for me. 3 messages shown on the Messages tab: Connecting to server...; Connection blocked; Error: Access denied.

Yeah, it says "Right click anywhere in QT window", but when I do, I get nothing. No menu. Do you get a menu?

I'm also getting an "Invalid Username and Password" msg, though both are indeed correct.

  8. Heres the email that got me up and running. Hope it helps:

    et's do the following:

    1. Install the most recent version (712):
    http://pmd.esignal.com/quotetrader/builds/qtrader.exe

    2. Start/log into TWS
Confirm that the following settings are chosen in "Configure -> API:
    a. Enable ActiveX and Socket Clients
    b. Download Open Orders on Connection
    c. Fire openOrder on status' change

    3. Start QT

    4. From the Account Manager, right-click, and choose "Select Broker"

    5. From the "Provider" drop down, choose "Interactive Brokers"
Note: In the "Client ID" field, enter "1" if you're currently, or
plan to use other 3rd party applications, to access your IB account
    simultaneously with QuoteTrader,

    6. Click "OK"

In the bottom right corner of the Account Manager, the status light
    should now be green.
Also, you can click the "Messages" tab to see messages between QT & IB.
Message #4 should say "Connected to TWS".

If this is successful, repeat steps 1 - 6 in the Trade Manager.

  9. I had both of those problems until I uninstalled and reinstalled everything, i.e., both Data Manager (assuming you were not already an eSignal user) and QuoteTrader, even though nothing changed.

  10. Thanks for posting that. Unfortunately, that didn't help with Oanda config (there are no user-accessible API options, as far as I know). I've just sent eSignal support an email as well, requesting specific instructions.
