  1. Every day I wake up hopeful that this will be the day.

  2. Any updates on when pre-opening indications will return? I spoke with REDI today and they were not even aware the NYSE was reinstituting them. I saw some real doozies this morning (after they opened of course).

  3. Half way through the month, and still no changes on pre-opening indications Don.
Are you sure you have the correct info?

Would it really kill the NYSE to restore valuable info that actually benefits the public?

  4. I actually did get one indication this morning on REDI. Anyone else getting anything? For the record I had plenty of stocks that in the past would have indications give none.

  5. Here is the Memo from the NYSE.

Important Effective November 1, 2007, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) will offer free trading to all customers in NYSE securities (excluding ETFs) for market and limit orders executing on the opening price, including Market-On-Open (MOO), Limit-On-Open (LOO) and Good-Til-Cancel (GTC) orders.

In addition, the NYSE recently established a more efficient opening process that allows specialists to automatically open stocks for trading quickly and more efficiently, freeing them up to focus on larger situations with imbalances in an effort to discover the best price. The NYSE has the most liquid opening and a superior process for handling imbalances and facilitating better price discovery. Specialists play a vital role in managing imbalances and establishing the best opening price, including providing additional support to minimize imbalances and avoid unreasonable price variations.

In November, the NYSE will be providing real-time pre-open indicative prices, which will be available both to the NYSE floor community and through the NYSE Alerts data feed. The NYSE plans to offer additional pre-open information in the future.

  6. Yes, you've already posted this.
But when will this pre-open information re-appear on your GS Redi screen Don?

  7. I assume "in November" sometime...I have no control over this, of course.

  8. Thanks for the update Don. Every day I wake up hoping that the NYSE will restore this valuable data to our Redi feeds. It can only HELP the NYSE to show valuable info like pre-open indications to the public.

Why is the NYSE so slow to realize this??

  9. Don, the pre-open indications have not yet come back, what happened? I would think if enough influential traders like yourself complained, then the NYSE might act and restore showing this vital info to the public.

Why does the NYSE want to hide valuable pre-opening info from the public ??
