I thought I tried to use one of the programs listed above and found that the pickup from the microphone built into my headset was seriously deficient, but I don't see a comment about it and I just tried using Audacity, and it was fine.

The click track is under the "Generate" menu item, but is says "Rhythm Track" as opposed to the "Click Track" selection seen in the instructional videos.

I recorded a vocal over the click track, by going to the "Tracks" menu item and clicking on "Add New," but it was not in sync. It was a fraction of a second behind. So, what I had to do was use the cursor to select a short segment/interval at the beginning of the vocal track and then click on the "Cut" option under the "Edit" menu item.

Well, out of the five programs listed in my first post, Audacity is the winner.
But, it seems I am going to need to purchase an "interface"...

In regards to purchasing an interface, that's what I telling you about PreSonus. If you buy their audio interface, they give you their Studio One software for free.

Thanks, I'll check out the free version of their software sometime this week. (I see you mentioned them in Post#5.) After making a visual check, it looks to me like their PreSonus STUDIO 24C USB-C 2x2 audio/MIDI interface is comparable with the interface I was planning to get that's similar to the one I saw on the above How To video, and they have another one that costs even less, or about the same if you purchase the entire bundle that goes with it: PreSonus AudioBox USB 96 2x2 Audio Interface Bundle with Studio One Artist, Studio Magic Plug-in Suite, SR350 Headphones, Blucoil 2x 10' XLR Cables, 6' 3.5mm Extension Cable, and 5x Cable Ties.

    Good information!

    I appreciate it!.;)

    Doesn't Pro-Tools have a free version?
The paid version is the industry standard fwiw.
Pretty sure you can get an old version that doesn't need a key on any number of forums. It'll be more than you'll ever need.
    But Ableton works too.
For the interface, go to Sweetwater's website. You can even call them believe it or not, tell em what you're trying to accomplish and what you want to spend. It's the best place for everything really. Especially customer service.
