Free futures charts

Discussion in 'Index Futures' started by clambill, Jan 26, 2010.

  1. I was thinking of looking at futures charts just to compare with other markets. Does anyone know of a good free site for futures charts? Can anyone tell me what the most liquid e-mini index futures are?

Does anyone think the S&P 500 is more difficult to trade than individual stocks?

  2. which time interval? daily? hourly? 3 minute?

    I had occasionally used Freecharts.com ( http://freecharts.com/Commodities.aspx?page=mktcom is the main futures/commodities page.)

There are a few others, but cannot remember at the moment.

  4. Well, thanks for providing links. I know I'm going to look clueless by asking this but I don't have the habit of watching futures. I noticed the other day when I compared the SSO (exchange traded fund based on the Standard & Poors 500) to the mini S&P futures, there was a real divergence. Does that make any sense?

  5. The most liquid Emini futures is the S&P 500 Emini ES.

As to which is more difficult...that's really a strategy dependent question. Simply, some strategies may be easier to apply in stocks than the Emini ES or vice versa. Another way to look at it...a someone using a profitable strategy in the Emini ES may not be profitable in using the same strategy in stocks or someone using a different strategy that's profitable in stocks may not be profitable in the Emini ES.

However, you'll see useless debates here at EliteTrader.com about that particular issue. Those debating are using different strategies. :D
