Free Chat Software??

  1. But yet with the ability to come up with a dozen solutions you choose to criticize, imply bad faith and suggest nothing vs. either positively contribute or abstain?

Yes, I have plenty of hardware - in several USA states, Europe and Asia. I also have plenty of public IP addresses. Reality is a chat server can be run on an old laptop so it's not rocket science, I've just never done it so I'm asking you guys so I don't have to make a ton of mistakes in my learning process.

I said that I want to host and control because I want it cut down to barebones, no advertisements, no pop-ups, no nonsense. I'd also like to be able to ban people if they are annoying. Outside that I could care less where the hardware resides - as long as it's free and easy.

  2. dude, there is no learning process involved:
    http://www.codeography.com/2012/09/23/howto-irc-server.html
    https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/serverguide/irc-server.html
This is as barebones as it gets and as simple as it gets.

From past posts it seems you do possess the technical knowledge, and again, you have asked the same question before (I am still quite sure but dont have the inclination to dig around).

Also, why do you have an issue to just create a chat channel on an externally hosted irc server? You can declare yourself admin and ban/kick whomever you want. This is where I am coming from, you still refuse to explain why you find an externally hosted irc chat (which costs you nothing at all) unacceptable, and I find that points to slightly opaque intentions. Maybe you can explain your rational then others understand and can point to more specific solutions.
