Why is Mark Sanford telling the public his girlfriend is his soul mate, and he have to learn to love his wife again? That is very hurtful to his wife. No law is saying he has to tell his personal thoughts. Ok, he has the girlfriend, but why hurt his wife more to tell everyone how much he loves the girlfriend?
The only way Sanford can possibly rescue his political career is to switch parties. Then the media will start covering up for him and attacking anyone who raises questions.
He obviously has no respect for his wife or he would have divorced her first. As for his parenting responsibilities, Father's Day-eve would have been a great time to sit his 4 boys down and tell them: "Boys, you know mom and I have been having a rough time lately, and Father's Day would be a good day to spend some quality time with you and help you sort through the emotional turmoil this is causing you...but, Daddy would rather spend the day in a bar with his mistress - so see ya!"
