So if you’ve been plugged into the news today, you may have seen the news of more Peter StrzokLisa Page texts being released. The text getting the most attention is the one reading, “potus wants to know everything we’re doing,” referring to then-President Barack Obama.

Fox News’ report this morning noted, “According to a newly released Senate report, this text raises questions about Obama’s personal involvement in the Clinton email investigation.”

This is the text exchange in question:

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and Chairman Ron Johnson released all the texts along with the committee’s report this morning, which had this to say about that particular exchange:

On September 2, 2016, Page wrote about preparing talking points for [FBI] Director [James] Comey because “potus wants to know everything we’re doing.” This text raises additional questions about the type and extent of President Obama’s personal involvement in the [Hillary] Clinton email scandal and the FBI investigation of it.

There is a footnote to this part that says “The Justice Department notified the Committee that it had redacted other text messages that were personal in nature or relating to other investigations. See Jan. 19th Boyd letter, supra note 5. Presumably, because this message was not redacted, the Department believes it may relate to the FBI’s investigation of classified information on Secretary Clinton’s private server.”

Naturally, there was a lot of coverage of this particular text today on Fox. Congressman Louis Gohmert concluded on Fox & Friends “it means the President wants to know what they’re doing to try to stop Trump.” Brian Kilmeade said the messages raise questions about what Obama knew about the Clinton investigation.

Earlier tonight on The Five, as they led with this report, Dana Perinocautioned, “It could look terrible or it could be he has seeking a briefing about the Russian involvement and meddling in the election. From these text messages, we don’t know that.”

That came shortly after Kimberly Guilfoyle reiterated the same point about how it raises questions about what Obama knew in the Clinton investigation and when:

Well, per The Wall Street Journal:

Text messages from 2016 show preparation to brief Barack Obama about Russia’s interference in that year’s election, according to associates of the FBI employees involved in the exchange, not, as a Republican senator suggested, meddling by the then-president in the federal Hillary Clinton email investigation…

[A]ssociates of Mr. Strzok and Ms. Page said that exchange referred to the president’s wanting information on Russia election meddling, which the FBI was heavily involved in over that period. That exchange occurred just days before Mr. Obama met Russian President Vladimir Putin at a summit in China. Mr. Obama said in December 2016 that he had addressed the issue of tampering with the election process with Mr. Putin at that September meeting.

Senator Johnson recently came under fire after hyping that “secret society” text after it came out and pretty much everyone recognized it as sarcasm.

Is any more proof needed that Fox News is propaganda? That right wing lies all day, giddying up their poorly educated wretches into frenzy making up their own reality. Fox will spend less than 5 seconds on issuing a correction if at all they do it and the cult will continue to believe the lie.

But but but you cannot dislike the Trump world for this kind of pervasive dishonesty. That's TDS!

This is what we are talking about - this is how braindead conservatism looks like.

    you cheap shot artist troll.

    1. My second statement that you included in your out of context cut and past referenced Obama saying that Hillary would not get special treatment. He was asked multiple times... and he lied about it.

Hillary and her team got a Headquarters special.

So what the hell you are doing grouping that quote in with your out of context crap.

    2. and my first quote would not have mattered which investigation you are talking about. Page did purchase all the presidents men to brush up on watergate...

    3. and its not like this is the omega of rebuttals... there is still a ton of wiggle room in here.

"Text messages from 2016 show preparation to brief Barack Obama about Russia’s interference in that year’s election, according to associates of the FBI employees involved in the exchange, not, as a Republican senator suggested, meddling by the then-president in the federal Hillary Clinton email investigation…"

First, I quoted you in FULL, I didn't edit anything, so what the heck are you babbling about out of context, you moron. Am I supposed to write commentary before quoting you, imagining some mythical context?

Second, you calling it WATERGATE had NOTHING to do with Clinton getting special treatment - another claim that you have no proof for. In fact, she got the worst treatment, a pointless email investigation cost her the election when Republican FBI director went on a tirade against her.

Stop lying and stop calling others liars just because you got caught again.

Your side lies and lies and lies all day, you called it watergate without knowing any facts, now you have to live with that embarrassment.

Watergate was about spying on political opponents. If you need to buy a book on it, you might be spying on a political opponent...if potus wants to know what you're doing. The Russia investigation, at that time, was revolving around the dossier. So yah, this text connects potus to spying on political opponent...enough to open a full fledged investigaion.

Page wrote... that she was buying All the Presidents Men to Brush up on Watergate.
I did not call it watergate in this thread you dope... she associated this with watergate you fricken troll.

don't quote me out of context... again.
I am tired of your cheap shot shit.
show some integrity instead of ruining this board everyday.

Except there is no evidence of this spying.

DOJ: No evidence Trump Tower was wiretapped | Fox News

If you are talking about the FBI obtaining a FISA warrant for a 'advisor to the staff of Kremlin' who in October 2016 was not part of Trump's campaign then it's their fucking job to spy on Russian spies.

Read some facts, before spreading lies and propaganda.

Your complaint is that Democrats called the cops.
And the Australian diplomat called the cops.
    The Trump crew did not.

    Law and Order Party right?

    And? Who gives a shit?

Good1 lied again, Carter Page was not part of Trump's campaign in October 2016, he had resigned a month earlier, not forgetting that he bragged about being advisor to the Kremlin prior to that. He is guilty as fuck and he is going down.

I am tired of explaining basic facts to you people and getting insulted for showing you the truth.

You got this story completely ass backwards but you are trying to pretend that it's still true.

The texts are evidence...enough evidence to open a full fledged investigation by yet another special council.

Why do you disagree, while still trying to float the Popadopulus/Page canard?
