Actually the police ride on the fire trucks or permanently escort first responders - there is no wait to respond. Utility workers must make appointments for police escort and meet at police sub-stations to proceed to the work site. You may want to note that most areas of the U.S. are far more crime free than the south Bronx.

The overall point is that there are already places in the U.S. where first reponders and firemen have police escorts and all the schools have armed police & metal detectors. Trying to act as either of these is unheard of is absurd. Go to any urban area and it is common.

  2. It's not practical for smaller towns to have police at every fire department and school. We have 7 public schools, 5 fire departments, and 1 ambulance garage. We would need at least 13 policemen available at all times in a town with a little over 30 patrol officers. We'd almost have to double the police force.

True.... taxes would need to go up in many towns to support any type of mandate for armed police/guards at schools or riding with firemen and first responders. Wonder what the NRA has to say about that...

    Don't despair, my thinking brethren.
We will slow down this scourge on our nation.
Gun control is on the way.

You mean MORE gun control, I presume. As we already have gun control to the tune of 22,000 federal state and local firearms laws in effect right now.
How are those working out BTW?

  7. They're keeping guns that are even more deadly off the street.

All 22,000 of them? What do you mean by more deadly. Is is possible to make someone "more dead" with one weapon than another? I was under the impression dead was - dead.

Those 22,000 regs only limit those willing to abide by them. Which in case you haven't noticed, aren't the people causing the problem to begin with.
Most of them are ridiculous restrictions that do nothing to enhance the safety of the citizenry.

An example scenario I've posted before.

An armed citizen is walking down the sidewalk in front of a school. He hears gun shots and observes students and teachers running from the building.
Thanks to those 22,000 gun laws in almost every state all this armed citizen can do is call 911 and wait for the police to arrive. It is literally against the law for him to try and stop the murdering. As he's prohibited from entering school grounds while armed.

A restriction the mass murderer obviously had no hesitation to ignore.

  9. Still waiting for someone to explain how banning "assault weapons" and >10 round magazines would have prevented this...
