Foundations of conservatism

  1. Actually the defense budget accounts for 21% of federal spending. Where the hell are you getting half from? In typical liberal fashion, dsq just makes up a number, throws it out there and expects people to bit. Get a life dsq, you are a loser and a liar.

That chart only tells part of the story. Throw in all the state and local taxes for social welfare, the demographic trends with the coming big increase in the government health care expansion, and socialist programs will absolutely dwarf the military budget. Pre health care fuck-up about to happen, the conservative estimate for unfunded social mandates was about $50 trillion.

There is no real argument here, but yet people want to act as if the numbers don't exist. Why do liberals ignore the obvious?

no they are not that big, you are just making shit up again like you have on every other post. Even if you assume that, social welfare still is a much larger problem.

Foundations of liberalism: 1) Gov't control and social welfare is the answer to all human problems 2) wealth grows on trees so just buy your constituency by taking it and handing money to people who don't produce 3) Diversity is absolutely good except for anything white western male, in spite of evidence to the contrary

At its core liberalism is bankrupt both literally and figuratively

  5. Yeah some of you people need to put down the pipe. US military budget expenditures (if we are talking everything going towards the military not just regular military budgets but cost of Iraq and Afghanistan plus treating wounded at Walter Reed, etc. are a lot larger than the "vanilla" military budget of 500 billion or so.

US spending on its military is not about national security, it is about imperialism. I would like to hear how admitting, romania lithuania, estonia, guarding taiwan, trying to get ukraine and georgia into nato makes me more safe. It does not. US military budget far exceeds that of any other nation and is greater than all of nato combined or all of nato+china+russia combined.

To support this monstrosity (and thousands of military bases overseas) you need a giant military industrial complex (the kind Ike warned against).

That is the essence of the moronic view of "small government" and "strong nationald defense" the kind of "strong national defense" that modern day conservatives/republicans refer to is inherently incompatible with small government/liberty. Liberty and empire are enemies.

Expecting an imperialistic expansion down at the Publix are you?

Maybe you and the stock clerks could build a barricade of shopping carts like they did with wagons in the old west.

  8. Conservatives and liberals are both for "big government." Conservatives prefer large and inefficient military programs, and liberals prefer large and inefficient social programs.

Even Ron Paul delivers the bacon to his constituents.

  9. Huh? Liberals have to be the stupidest and most full of shit people in the world. We have listened for 8 years to your bullshit about how GWB did not care about what other countries thought and how he destroyed all these alliances and we need international support and blah, blah, blah. Now this uber-lib comes out and spews some utter nonsense.

the "conservatives" like "preservatives" hate fresh ideas, fresh food. they wish to "conserve" the US Empire as it was post WWII. You of course know the plausibility of that one....FAT F'ING CHANCE especially being broke and the debt holder being China....
