Thanks LEAPup. But trading pays a tad better... There you go... did some online window shopping... (Just on HP. I am sure there are other competitive offers from other vendors.) HP ENVY 17 series http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/s...odexp/hhoslp/psg/notebooks/ENVY/ENVY17_series From $1299 to $1939... Processor can be configured as: 2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2820QM (2.3 GHz, 8MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz It has a passmark score of 7593. Very nice. http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-2820QM+@+2.30GHz 6GB of RAM. You can ditch the HDD and buy your own SSD as your primary drive. Add another $200 or so. Indeed... as said by LeeD...
All Lenovos (used to be thinkpads..) work with docking stations.. even old docking stations.. The only caveat is that the newer weird things like firewire could be problematic on older docking stations.. They are like $200-300 new, but I got mine in excellent shape on ebay to my door for like $45.. there are lots on there..
A 19 foot $15 HDMI cable is on the way via Walmart. I will let you know if the ends DON"T fall off when plugged.
Maybe I can talk you into trading rth, and building me a setup in the evenings? Anyhow, thanks for the advice! For some reason, I've got this nagging feeling that I don't need a high performance laptop to trade with as I'm usually not needing to trade when I travel, or on vacation etc., I may just stick with a desktop and 3 monitors for my home office. What would you recommend in a desktop? Last, do you prefer the 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 24" monitors? I have the 1080's, and was wondering what I'd get with the 1200. Are you sure you don't want to build a desktop? Think I'd put these 3 side by side: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824176141
