Forums page, Chit Chat warning!!!

Discussion in 'Politics' started by ZZZzzzzzzz, Feb 13, 2006.

1. In case people haven't noticed, just like the Surgeon General puts on a warning about the risks of smoking, Baron has put this warning on the Chit Chat forum:

"Not for the faint of heart. If you are easily offended, stay away from this forum! These threads will not appear on the homepage.

So let me get this straight....Baron warns people that are easily offended to stay from Chit Chat...yet people are bitching about what they read in Chit Chat, that they are offended...some have even threatened to leave ET because of what they read in Chit Chat, that if certain members are not banned, they will leave ET.

Isn't this a bit like those who ignore the warnings on the cigarette package, get cancer, then blame the Cigarette companies for the fact that they smoked?

Does Baron put special chemicals in Chit Chat that make those who find Chit Chat offensive unable to stay away, make them addicted?

:D :D :D

2. To which people do you refer?

- Spydertrader
3. The people who haven't noticed.....

4. People who didn't notice the warning label? or the people who hadn't noticed the warning label yet threatened to leave?

- Spydertrader
5. Whoever it applies to....

Shoe fits, and all of that...

6. You bringing up Chit Chat and its contents is like a whore leading a discussion about syphillis.

The problem is the moderating that goes on in Chit Chat. If Chit Chat were truly a "If you are easily offended, stay away from this forum!" kind of place, it would be an equitable and free-flowing process. You wouldn't have resinate hovering over your shoulder like a guardian angel, and posts and threads from people who disagree with you wouldn't be deleted.

Baron's warning ought to read:

"Not for the faint of heart. If you are easily offended by ZZZzzzzzzz, stay away from this forum! He will be protected, and you will not! These threads will not appear on the homepage."
7. The following warning may be able to spare folks alot of grief:

Never attempt to debate a troll.

They commonly employ the tactic of winning by losing.
While the victim is trying to put forward solid and convincing facts to prove his position, the troll's only goal is to infuriate its prey. The troll takes (what it knows to be) a badly flawed, wholly illogical argument, and then vigorously defends it while mocking and insulting its prey. The troll looks like a complete idiot, but this is all part of the plan. The victim becomes noticeably angry by trying to repeatedly explain the flaws of the troll's argument. Provoking this anger was the troll's one and only goal from the very beginning.

Before I understood the inner workings of the troll mind, I was prey. (First three pages of this thread) ----->
8. Here are the Rules. Make note of the third paragraph of #2. If you still have something to say, then it is really sad that proving a view that is blatantly wrong is more important to you than the truth. You want to say I'm whining, that's your choice. If it helps you feel better about being wrong then keep it up.

10. Here is one of the posts recently deleted by LoZZZer's personal guardian angel:

Medical fact: Some viruses can attack the human body and temporarily do it a great deal of harm. However, after initial exposure, the body develops an immunity to these viruses, rendering them powerless to harm it a second time.

The troll virus known as LoZZZer is a highly potent and skilled pest. Its trolling talent has been honed to perfection. It is truly an inspiration to trolls across the globe.

However, I have developed an immunity to this virus. It cannot
Successfully annoy me or lure me into attempting to debate it. The disease will soon realize that it would be best served to find a different host on which to prey

By paying attention to which anti-ZTroll posts get deleted and which ones do not, you may be able to identify which types of messages bother it the most.
