I'm not really a fan of the Alchemy of Finance, but it is quite possible what we are seeing at the moment is Soros' Theory of Reflexivity in progress. But I am more aligned to believe it's simply over-leveraged HODlers who are forced to liquidate in the never-ending cycle of selling forces more selling.
On the flip-side, I've watched a number of big short positions latley get taken out on a stretcher after getting too greedy in their full conviction of (this is it, this is the end!) One problem, is even if you could be 100% sure on the direction, all it takes is a few other shorts to cover at the same moment and you end up blowout out in the sqeeze.
