You can lock him in a mental institution. But things will never be same again between you: If he believes you care about him, want the best for him, then you do that, you will have lost his trust.
I feel bad for the fellow's turn of events, and I hope that, with help, he can find his footing again. But why drag nitro into this? What has he said or done that gives you cause for concern?
Nitro is following the same pattern. Stress, middle aged, daughter, divorce, trading losses. Then the conspiracy talk. The talk of danger, world falling apart. Post activity goes parabolic. Then a sudden stop. Nothing. No goodbye. No, I've had enough of this place, I'm leaving. People are creatures of habit. When you get to a certain age any sharp change in behavior pattern is always a concern. I'm genuinely concerned for him.
Perhaps he just had enough of P&R's overwhelming groupthink and decided to move on. I should be so enlightened. As for the trading-related forums, apart from news, it's fairly repetitive and anyone who's been here long enough may have had their fill for the most part, at least for awhile. But on the matter of over-the-top conspiracy talk, have you read any of Scataphagos's posts and those who "like" them? What do you make of their unyielding rage? Meanwhile, I only recall nitro's references to the absurd conspiracy theories of others rather than any his own: https://www.elitetrader.com/et/search/6128680/?q=conspiracy&o=date&c[user][0]=8288 Am I missing something?
I didn't even know Nitro was posting in P&R. Most of the stuff I'm referring to was in his black thread or everyday is black, whatever it was called. He had two very long running threads that go back years where he posted daily. His posts were becoming more and more over the top everyday. I do disagree with you that the trading threads are repetitive. There are some good threads with excellent posts but you have to pick your spots. To me P&R is repetitive and has been for over a decade. I haven't been down there in years. So no, I have not read any of scatty's recent posts. As far as Nitro goes, I recognize the pattern. It's subtle and it happens slowly over time, but I do see it.
