Why are you being so dense? Do you think Curtis Faith "thinks" he is mentally ill? Of course not! So why would he think he needs to go to your vipassana retreat? THAT is the problem. Alcoholics are convinced they are not alcoholics. Child abusers are convinced they are good parents. Curtis believes the NSA is after him. He does NOT believe he is crazy and therein lies the rub. You are acting as if he knows he is mentally ill and will weigh his options. He does not believe that and he is not weighing his options. He believes "they" are out to get him. He does not need to meditate. He wants to take the gov't down. Do you understand this?

  3. You are making a LOT of assumptions.
Vipassana retreat is not about mental illness.

I fully understand what his beliefs are.

I know what it is. I have a buddy that went to one. What I am saying is in order to get Curtis to attend this "retreat", how do you expect that to happen? Seriously, walk me through it. You call him up while he is tunneling through a jail while doing videos from his phone which he is bouncing off 6 servers all over the world to avoid NSA hitmen who are after him because he has a plan to make Taylor Swift President and take AAPL private and over through the gov't. Please, walk me through this phone conversation. I really want to hear it. Ring ring...hello. Now start talking...

@Maverick74 , I did try to play that conversation through my head... I have a good imagination, but to be honest the conversation stalled after hello....

If he's that crazy, you can't talk sense into him. And hate to say it SS but a 20k a month retreat isn't going to be necessary here. You seem a bit brainwashed that this dhamma thing is the solution for all problems when it simply isn't reasonable in this case.

  8. First, It is good to see tha at least one person, you, does really care about him. I hope he knows that.

Let me point out to you, that in my fist posts in this thread, I did precise that my only condition
was this dhamma (dot) org retreat. :D :D :D

And I did point out that it is very unlikely that they'd do it.

I'd need a bit of time to ask some people about this, as I do not know just now.

And this is why you have people committed to hospitals. I know a lot about mental illness and those institutions that help people. These institutions are the only thing that can save these people because they can't or won't save themselves. Usually these situations end in suicide.

  10. I am gonna bail out Fiama Colinet, take her to the Dharma retreat for 10 days, and do nothing but read Curtis Faith's "Way of the Turtle", day in and day out.
