I was 17 years old. I learned from the volume posted in the options section of the Chicago Trib to begin trading rates-arbitrage into STIRs yielding 8%. You're what, 65 and still clinging to this fiction?

volume is a fact just like GDP is a fact
it matters only how you interpret it; there are times when gdp moves market and there are times when volume gives vital information about market
so what nonsense are you talking about

  6. I'm a developer of Forex simulation software, you can imagine how deep I went into the data to make it work. Volume in Forex is just a number of ticks. And what are "ticks"? Bid/ask changes.

Even if a market maker decides to emulate volume in some way, you will see looong horizontal lines on tick chart. Ever seen them? Me not.

If we are talking about "real" volume in "real" Forex futures, they may have some sense, I just don't know enough to decide if it's a good thing, or not.

Yes, it's a "fact" that volume does exist. But it's not a fact that this synthetic thing may be of any value at all.

    Gotcha

Threads like this make me realize how useless the idea that "everyone gets a voice" is. When it comes to trading, I honestly don't think anyone deserves to go on and on about shit until they can demonstrate that their shit is making money.

Every single time I see someone mention volume, you have the same regular characters who fiercely defend it, and yet, you can't find a single fact about their trading ability, how they use it, the kinds of trades it produces, the kinds of profits it delivers, etc.

In the past few days, there have been several posters who go on a rant about @destriero , gladly proclaiming how they have blocked him for his rude behavior, and yet, none of them can demonstrate how he is wrong when it comes to trading, in a trading forum after all, and none have been able to match his level of transparency with regards to his trades.

As intelligent as @Xela sounds, she really hasn't offered anything that is remotely close to show that she actually trades profitably. Of course its very convenient to hide behind an NDA, but I've been at this game long enough, and know that the only way to evaluate a poster is based on trades. Without proof of profitability and discussions about actual trades, what most people say on here is useless.

it gives a early sign of trending and ranges, it confirms ranges, it shows the balance of buyers and sellers and it also clarifies price

of course you can trade without it, as you could trade without indicators

sorry just discussing..i appreciate your point of view and trading can be done most of the time with price alone...sometimes it is helpful to see something else
