The point is that they are derivative. Meaning that the volume is largely arbitrage-related. You’re not going to get it, so just let yourself be insulted and move along. There is no probative or predictive value in FX futures volume or ECN volume. Bucket shop volume is simply cum-tick counts. An analogy in another derivative mkt would be volatility. Volume in XYZ option markets is not predictive in the underlying (while) volume in the shares themselves can offer color.
Babu, if Xela is suggesting that FX futures volume is predictive or of any use then she's a failure. So FX volume is something between "helping" and "all that matters." 20 years of trading and busto and clinging to FX futures volume. When I was 17 I saw a 5,000 lot conversion in JPM options. I was convinced that it was predictive and went long in vol. Never mind that I had no color into whether it was a long or short synthetic; as I could not match the block trade against the (shares) bid or offer on the time and sales back in the day. I went long JPM and coincidentally/luckily made a few bucks. All that I learned that week was that it was not predictive of anything other than an arbitrage took place. I looked into trading the conversion/reversal upstairs. A few days... is what it took for me to learn from a mistake that made me money. You're 20 years into it and modeling FX volume?
there are two aspects of any transaction price and volume ignoring volume means ignoring half of the information:volume is not understood volume so they say it is useless just because Chinese is not understood...does nt mean it is useless
you are an idiot and ajoker and you think you are smart you look at price movement and how much that volume has moved the price. if it is arbitrage price will not move please you have worked as sell and buy side and you do not not know this. And you are putting your stupidity in plain view here
