Forex? Discussion

  1. Hi P, the question at hand is whether VOL. is a valid metric in spot currency and futures, and if so, can it be Quantized and used profitably. Excuse me for saying this, but you are stuck to a concept that cannot be reproduced. I don't know if it is a personally held belief, or just trying to defend another member, but I think you need to be more adaptable.

Also, in general, I don't think d is a troll, he asks a question, and then it goes unanswered, so he asks again more forcefully, and it still is not answered, so, and I agree, the ridicule starts, why? Because anyone who makes a big statement of fact should be called on to prove it, unless it is common knowledge. Also if that person persists in their stupidity, they should be hammered for it. Why again? Because it is, to me, wrong to allow people to spout garbage that can cause others to lose money. I don't know why d does what he does here, and I don't care, the results are that reality has to come first in trading and not some pie in the sky nonsense. D's actions helps to filter out the dross.

Yes, as far as possible. I've heard it was pretty difficult. Now I know what they mean, didn't think they got into quantum mechanics concepts.

i do use it and it does result in better trades for me than using price action alone.

the only way you can answer this question is by using it trading and seeing the result:which i have and i am happy: it has improved my trading

i just could not do it with price action alone.

If you can do it without volume then do not bother about it:it is not easy to use it correctly

It is not that high volume means strength or anything simplistic like that

it is very subjective and like everything in Nature effort [volume] and result [price] should be proportionate.

If you want to know more about this aspect of trading there is enough literature on the subject.

The only reason i am taking the effort to post this is to put it on record that volume even in spot forex may be used: as many experts in various forums have also said which encouraged me to look it.
If this encourages someone to look into this little used aspect of trading then it is not bad.

i wanted to add that i am scalping using this and it takes a little practice to understand the intricacies of this method but now i am finding it an extremely powerful and beats price action hollow especially when there is choppy market action which is quite often.

usually the market behaves and then price action is more than enough:it is when volume anomaly occurs that give s had up or warning and it is possible to get wind of market conditions a little in advance.

it does not replace price action or S/R

Have you tried to compare the volume figures that your broker gives to another data feed?

Say tradingview which you can get free charts from....

If you find that the volume is not consistent between the two feeds...would you still argue that it has any use?
