Not the problem .First opinion by each attempt to trade forex
    must be -

Average life expectancy by forex retail account is 45-60 days
    (industry statistic)

CFTC to date tryed to press forex market ,alsov with capital quote 20 mln $

All forex brokers are not pure agent(with exception hotspotfx) ,trade against client interess ,manipulation
of the quote and only fraction of liquidity is visible (CME DOME
    give full )

Forex account is not protected by SIPC .See Refco case
and compare satisfaction RefcoFX(30-40%) against Refco future
    account holder .

  5. Lets just compare commissions and for a 1 mio. Eur/Usd transaction and assume a rate of 1.5300 and a 1 pip spread for everything (even tho on spot its often < 1 pip):

    IB Spot: $30.6 (20x1.5300)
    IB Future, bundled: $22.80 (8x2,85)
    OEC retail: 27.70 (8x3,46)
    OEC pro: $22.90 (8x2,86) (account>100k)
    MB spot: $76.60 (50x1.5300)
    MB future: $20 (2.50x8)
Hotspot, retail, USA division: $30 (per BCU)
    Hotspot, retail, EU: $45.90 (1.5300x30)
    Oanda: free ;)

On spot, you can often trade on spreads < 1 pip, that alone skews the above comparison in favour of futures. They also only trade 23 hours a day, while the underlying spot market trades 24 hours. Besides, the only liquid contracts are 6E and 6J (pound and swissy to a lesser extent), that alone makes futures for me a nogo.

As mentioned above, you really need to compare the total trading costs, including both commissions (preferably RT, not per side) and actual spreads for your trading style and size.

Comparing "just commissions" is fine among currency futures brokers. However, it's less meaningful among futures brokers and forex dealers.

Oanda is not "free" - commission is built into the spread, as it is with all other non-ECN forex dealers.

  7. In my opinion, assuming a 1 pip spread on the euro during regular hours is quite fair for the brokers i mentioned, maybe ECNs are a tad tighter on average. If nothing else, it just shows that MB spot is just way out there.

Yes, MBT forex is out there, commission-wise.

Regarding a 1-pip spread: for Euro, sure, but not everyone trades the Euro (I realize that the OP used it as his example). In fact, one of the key deciding factors between spot and forex is the choice of currency pairs traded.

As you knew ,all professional pay commission .ALL SEC brokers ,all future brokers alsov asked commission .

Integration in spread is source of manipulation
