  1. No shame at all in "USA First-Capitalism!" That shows the U.S. finally recognizes there's a global economy and hopefully is once again placing USA workers and families at the front of that economic line.

American Apparel that worked with the slogan "Made in the USA ', has in California one of the most expensive plants in the US labor costs. It employs 3,500 people. The company already came in 2015 into difficulties because of the high labor costs. It went bankrupt a short time ago because of labor cost.
I think no further comment is needed. Will the Americans accept having to pay more money for the same goods just because they were produced in the US?

  3. This blanket statement is inaccurate, and misleading, at best. Bad management had a bigger impact.

    Costly manufacturing is explicitly mentioned.

    http://fortune.com/2016/11/14/american-apparel-bankruptcy-protection-again/

"American Apparel filed its first bankruptcy in October 2015 following a steep drop in sales and drawn out legal battle with Charney, who was ousted in 2014. It emerged from bankruptcy in February under the ownership of a group of former bondholders led by hedge fund Monarch Alternative Capital.Still, it continued to face declining sales, exacerbated by its costly manufacturing plant in Los Angeles. Under mounting pressure, American Apparel hired investment bank Houlihan Lokey earlier this year to explore a sale."

  5. 'Because of' and 'exacerbated' are quite different 'reasons'.

Either way here is BK1. (no labor costs included in the list)

Let's see what Trumpie does about China .... where FORD sells a million plus cars a year.

Michigan gains a hundred or two jobs with shift from Mexico and then maybe loses thousands more with loss of the Chinese market by way of tariff war.

Meanwhile he kisses Putie's azz where Ford (and the rest of S&P 500) sell hardly anything.

    Genius!

And just as I said if Apple were to make an iphone in the US it would have to up the price.....an analyst explained what Apple could do and he said sell a "made in america" phone for $100-$200 more!!!!!

Yep, cause the people of the US are going to want to spend that much more for a phone thats already overpriced just to know they bought it in America....come on...don't be fooled by this garbage.

    From article written today.

Here's one way Apple could make money on a US-made iPhone, explains analyst

The president's steep border tax proposals will be a net negative for Apple, even with the repatriation of Apple's "huge" overseas cash pile, Brian White, global head of technology hardware and software at Drexel Hamilton, told CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Thursday.

One solution: White suggests a special-edition "Made in America" iPhone that costs an extra $100 to $200.

Yup plus make them less competitive price-wise with the imports.

Maybe then Trumpie can chase out the twenty-something foreign auto manufacturing plants based here. Next the foreign's can stop our companies from doing business in their countries.

    Back to the "future".

Some "businessman" this clown is. Starts shit with our two biggest trading partners. What's next? Hopefully his wars are only economic and he stays away from the button for next 4 years ... or less.

  10. raise min wage to at least 15 hr. More people will buy cars and make car payments. How can you rent..buy car..buy groc..pay kids schooling..buy clothes..buy gift for wife ...give to charitible causes...etc on 8 or 9 hr? While CEO's and politicians make millions and put the screws down on the pop.
