Did you get a popup from Windows Firewall about Chromium wanting access to public networks when logging into thinkorswim for the first time after transition? Is it ok to give access to public networks? Maybe TDA had this in TOS as well, but that was installed so long ago, I no longer recall if I had to give this kind of permission.
Yes, I did. I said OK, as I assumed it was required, but I was wondering the same thing. Hopefully, someone else will jump in here.
This is part of TOS, and it showed up even before the migration. Just allow it. It's harmless. Edit: From what I can tell, it appears to be tied to their Education portal, according to a few Reddit posts. So it shouldn't matter if you block it entirely. Also, it's worth knowing that TOS doesn't need to be installed on C: drive. So if you're the paranoid type, you can even run it from a portable drive.
I did. Reddit to the rescue: "There is a dedicated chromium-based browser hidden inside ToS to support things like the Education tab and some support tasks."
Hope anyone can enlighten me here please. I've been trading with my ThinkPad X9 for the last year, and it has been solid. Last friday, something changed, once you Alt+ B a window will pop up and then I can just hit enter and order sent instantly, this enter key stopped working only and specifically for order confirmation. Although I can open any window within TOS and pressing enter will do certain things like apply, OK works. So It must be something with the Java or my laptop? What I did so far without luck: Reset workspace, disconnected the keyboard, use the laptop keyboard, reset the shortcuts. Uninstall + delete all the folders and also hidden which wiped my workspace saved layouts and reinstall it ( even though with previous downloaded versions) Spent over an hour with tech ppl. Send tech ppl any logs. Install it on a Dell desktop Tried to use the paper acc nada.. Checked for bios updates. Check sticky keys settings. Uninstall/ keyboard hardware on device manager several times. The only way to proceed is by alt+B and then click on the send order with the mouse, this work as common sense. I'm hopeless at this point, I have a long background in IT and programming and this is something that I never heard of. Any other program on Windows responds with the enter key, freaking weird, I also install a keyboard stroke in the background to verify it, checked the chromium nothing. The only thing is that since this horrendous app is hybrid ( half desktop and half web-based there must be a script being corrupted when I login, paper or margin. Has anyone else experience this crazy behavior too?
